About Me

From past to present, It has been a long journey with diversity that words aren't deemed to explain. So accompanying you through a journey of self-interest and "non-self"-monotony, I would like to introduce myself as a cockroach. I would be pleased if "hygiene" is not the idea that comes to your head instantaneously. I have been told that I am adaptive to situations. i dont know whether I have a knack for difference or I get bored easily, but its true. Having given you a brief idea about me, here is my work. I have worked as a Marketing Manager for corporate relations for 6 culfests, 2 TEDx and 3 conferences. I have been instrumental as a student representative of India via JENESYS in the prefecture of Wakayama. I am currently working on 3 more conferences for Marketing and Publicity. Business development and industry linkage have been my areas of interest since long.

More About Me

I'm passionate about

My thoughts. I truly believe in what I think is reasonable. Objectively, my interests range from Howark Roark to Don Quixote, Jazz to Metal, Sleep to adventure, etc. A techie and social media addict.

An idea worth spreading

Right to Information. Such an idea exists but is inaccessible. As an Indian, I know how instrumental can such a tool be for the masses to escape the present day autistic bureaucracy. And, I do believe than the Indian TED can be the most effective in this idea of philanthropy. Recent survey's do predict that an application via bribery and the RTI have almost equal probability to get finalized withing the same time-frame. Such a idea is like the drizzle of water for a lost one in the Atacama. Awareness is what is required, not only withing the TED community but among the citizen to revitalize himself and restore faith in the Indian administration. I believe that Right to Information is an idea worth spreading since its an avatar of the basic right of a human: a right to know!!!

Talk to me about

Technology, Nuclear-physics, Touch-tech, Android, Market-trading, e-Commerce, RTI, Management Information Systems, Advertising, Music, Synth, Event management, and of course TED!!!

People don't know that I'm good at

Design and development, Avenues research and analysis for start-ups, android programming, Resource management, contraption of humour outta nowhere!!!

My TED Story

Just the emphasis on the sheer brilliance of the idea caught my awe when i first saw TED. I remember the first TED video I saw was that of Pranav Mistry;s sixth sense technology, since then I have followed TED talks regularly. My association got strengthened with the birth of TEDxBITSGoa where I got closer to understanding the TEDx way of doing things, the management aspect. Involvement in the corporate branding and TED branding for TEDxBITSGoa brought me closer to TED. Today, if asked to answer in a single line, I would say "Every TED talk sounds likes a story to me, unscathed, unadulterated, and a streak of pure innovation"

A comment on Conversation: Alright everyone, what big and crazy or small, sustainable things will you try for 30 days?

Jul 2 2011: Well, I would love to each at a different restaurant for each of the following 30 days.
  • A comment on Conversation: Risks are important. But how do you decide which ones are worth taking and when to be more calculative.

May 31 2011: The decision to take a risk involves the basic opportunity cost involved in every choice: i.e the gain and loss chart for each of the options. I would definitely say that the future of a decision lies in the regret factor associated if we take/dont take the risk. The important thing is evaluating the regret associated, not the risk. If we realize that the regret associated is not a trade-off for abstaining from the risk, we should take the risk. Studying what I gain or what I lose is an approach to pacify the brain, not the heart. Reason is not something that goes along with the heart. For the heart we need to evaluate our feeling towards a decision, hence we approach the regret associated with a decision. If we see that the regret we experience if we take a risk(if the risk turns out fruitful) is at a higher degree than the happiness associated if we dont take the risk (the risk is not fruitful), we should take the risk and vice-versa.
  • A reply on Conversation: Have you reinvented yourself, or started a movement?

May 31 2011: Thank you Bernd. I hope I am able to take this idea forward and implement it in a much wider scale. I expect to get the support from all change agents and the TED community!
  • A comment on Conversation: Has the Indian education system focused more on content and curriculum or completely relied on the existing competition scenario?

May 30 2011: I want to point out that I am trying to indicate the necessity of change in the content than the evaluation form. i do understand the necessity to have an effective and transparent evaluation to meet a certain selection criteria. However, every person has his/her own potential. All I am saying is that the current unhealthy competition is just curbing even the trials of those with less potential.
I am advocating about that segment of the population which is not able to come up. Not being able to compete in a certain situation doesn't make the person incompetent.
I am proposing that rather than an evaluation-centric approach, we follow a curriculum centric approach, where emphasis is given to updating the curriculum at very frequent intervals depending on the immediate job market. This shift from a competition minded approach might give people a better chance to adapt to demands of education.

A comment on Conversation: What kind of power can a film have?

May 30 2011: I would definitely not undermine the impact of movies. Some of them have defined a perspective of thinking for many. If we search through the definition of "cult movies", people who like the movie actually adapt to the nature of a certain character of the movie.
Now when we come around to the point of whether a movie can actually impact a person's attitude or the society as a whole, i would definitely agree. While I was doing my graduation, I was going through the most frustrating period of a teenager. Break-ups, bad score, regular retribution from parents, no close friends, etc to saw a few. You know at such times self-motivation rarely works. A helping hand is what a person wants. After all this is the basic reason why man is a social animal. Anyways, at that point of time, I took a liking to IMDB listed movies and started of with Shawshank Redemption. Today, I can say that a movie from 1993 changed my attitude in 2009. The didactics involved not only mesmerized me, but also kept me thinking a long time. I would be over-modest it if i said I just derived inspiration from it. It made me a more stable person, in a perfect tandem with the real world.
I wonder how many people share such a feeling, but I do know that its the content and execution that makes a movie stand out. Morgan Freeman's narration was like an idle, passing revery, embossing itself in the mind as it passed. I wonder how my mind would have reacted in case it was someone else.
The movies which need to make an impact should have a content which is foremost relevant, subsequently unambiguous. Ambiguity just distances the audience, hence hiding the message it associates with itself. Internationally relevant movies like Blood Diamond, Life is beautiful, Boy in stripped pajamas, Schindler's list hit a person with the that such an event is going on/has happened in the world. The content of such movies have commanded attention and awareness in a much larger audience than the actual event itself.
  • A comment on Conversation: Reading science fiction for a more critical view of our society?

May 27 2011: Well, this is truly a creative initiative to bring in a relation between fiction and future via imagination. However, there are always some things that in never considered while writing science fiction. Forecasting rules out several important concerns like social stagnation, intellectual taboos, education system failures, public operation failure, etc. I do believe that such an attempt might give a very ideal scenario on the future, but to show the real scenario, lots of things are required to be considered to exact the calculation.

A comment on Conversation: Have you reinvented yourself, or started a movement?

May 27 2011: I have reinvented myself since the onset of graduation. Realization of self-goals have been a major reason of such a change in outlook. I thank the people around who had me motivated in some or the other way. I have started thinking less in the product sense and more in the impact sense. Dreams are meant to be big, else whats the use of it? I truly believe in such a concept. Presently I want to build an initiative of a direct social media forum for people from Pakistan and India to provide an unadulterated public opinion about each other. My idea is to introduce the common man from both countries in the true sense.
  • A comment on Conversation: A true effort is required to see the commoner of Pakistan by Indians, unblemished by the media and the bitter history both the countries saw

May 27 2011: The basic intention and thought of mine was to bring up certainty regarding our neighbour ideologies. I wouldn't oppose the incidents that triggered of 1965,1971 and Kargil. Even now, infiltration and terrorist camps are a burning image on the peace attempts. All that I am questioning is that "Are we right in generalizing such an idea for the entire Pakistan Community"?
Thank you for your support for an open forum. I would definitely like to know more about how this entire project can flag off
