Elizabeth Pisani: Sex, drugs and HIV -- let's get rational
I think the aristotelian logic, without it's moral implicancies, supports Ms. Pisani: Leaving the fact of drug use being a crime, or at least bad for society, and extending this judgment to the subsidiarization of said drug use, the cost of people sick with HIV higher, from any point of view, than the cost of people getting drugged (lest they are violent towards other people). If we accept that the cost-benefit analysis is at least true in that if we save some money thanks to provinding needles, then we could use that money to fill in other social needs, then I think it should be done.
