A comment on Conversation: What is something you do that makes you genuinely happy?

May 2 2013: I enjoy those moments of serenity after a meditation. It is at those moments that i question the phrase, "home is where the heart is". For my heart belongs to that moment and every other moment like it.
  • A comment on Talk: Laura Snyder: The Philosophical Breakfast Club

Apr 13 2013: Although science literacy is important. The exponential explosion of science makes it nearly impossible to be up to date with it (memory retention has its limits). Thankfully due to the internet one nearly has to ask a question to get an answer, although one has to be cautious about one believes. In the end, it's not about knowing everything but about knowing the right things for the circumstance at hand. There is always Google for the least essential things.

A comment on Conversation: If you have NEVER been to Africa, when someone mentions "Africa" or you hear "Africa", what is the FIRST thing that comes into your mind?

Mar 31 2013: Unfortunately my perception is one that has been greatly influenced by the media. First thoughts that arise are those of; chaos, hunger, famine, and poverty. Also, danger in every corner due to so many predators. However, upon further introspection i remember that the media is just another capitalist business and that negativity sells more then positivity.
I would love to visit Africa and experience first hand.
  • A comment on Talk: Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi: Flow, the secret to happiness

Mar 31 2013: Flow, to me has been a state in which both my physical and mental body are so occupied with the task at hand that the "self" disintegrates and you become one with the task. A state of detachment from the self and attachment to the moment.
  • A comment on Conversation: Do right and wrong exist?

Mar 4 2013: If it causes you or others suffering, it can be worded as being wrong. If it causes you joy, but others suffering then it is a selfish pleasure and hence wrong. If it causes others pleasure and you suffering, then it's still detrimental to you and can be called wrong. Which leads you with a very narrow path to what is right; performing altruistic actions without them being detrimental to you.
  • A comment on Conversation: Who is the enemy?

Feb 3 2013: In my opinion, it is those who deem themselves better then the rest; dehumanizing others and in the process inflicting mental or physical harm.

Feb 3 2013: What's a degree worth? To many, their lives as indentured slaves.

A reply on Talk: Aubrey de Grey: A roadmap to end aging

Apr 8 2011: True, one of the greatest human abilities is the ability to adapt. Per example, a person lived an average of 30-35 years in the middle ages; I don’t see many people losing motivation at 60 years of age.
Another thing is that you can speculate, however you can’t truly know about the unknown. For all we know time will pass different if you get to live longer, sort of like when you're a kid and a day seems like days.
  • A comment on Talk: Patricia Ryan: Don't insist on English!

Apr 8 2011: Basically, "When words are eliminated from the common vocabulary, the thinking of the common people becomes limited"
