Nov 24 2010: yes cory, that's why I said I think it's important to learn from mistakes. when I said "keep it personal" I was refering to that exactly. leave the intermediaries aside and keep it personal, p2p (I'm sure there's a better word). it all sounds kind of idyllic, I know.

A comment on Talk: Jessica Jackley: Poverty, money -- and love

Nov 23 2010: wow! I really didn't see all the negativity coming.
Many facts might be true as well as many of your concerns. But if you don't like Jessica's way, just do it your own way, but do it.
I do believe in the viability of projects like this as long as they are kept "personal" (or whatever word you prefer). As long as no interests other than the desire to help someone else come in the way. Because if you have the chance of contributing with as little as 25usd (as it was with Kiva) then who cares if the money doesn't come back. It all relies on people's kindness. And that's why, although I think it's important to state the bad because "solo de errores se aprende", I don't think that negativity helps us grow much.
