Jan 9 2011: I refuse to believe that any successful major religion (Islam in terms of shear numbers of believers ranks #1) exists on a missionary strategy of "If they don't accept our beliefs, kill them.".
I am not saying that religious persecution never happens, that would be naive. I am saying that no theology can survive if it is based on such intolerance. This idea goes against what I feel is a basic human value that requires the acceptance of people who are different.
No person is an island and never will every human on earth believe the exact same thing, so acceptance is a crucial part of living in this world.
People who chose to interpret their holy scriptures in a way that oppresses others lead humanity away from paradise.
Aug 6 2010: Although I am not entirely convinced that this is a good long term solution, this idea needs to be used in Pakistan immediately!! He should get together with the recent billionaires that pledged to donated 50% of their wealth and solve this problem!
