  • A comment on Conversation: Can computers be smarter than humans?

Nov 3 2011: To clarify my question on what it means to be smart, I mean that the computer would be able to do many things that humans can do. For example, having the same learning abilities as humans, or doing scientific research. Although computers are already doing them to some degree, they are not "smart" enough to beat humans yet.

Of course, there are already many tasks that computers can do better than humans, but for now, they are usually repetitive tasks involving large amounts of data.

A comment on Conversation: What are the possibilities of open data?

Oct 18 2011: Although we can present data in nicer formats, I think the true power of computing and open data can only be achieved by performing intelligent analysis on the data.
  • A comment on Conversation: jails should be more widely known as schools

Oct 14 2011: Although many are suggesting ways to correct adult offenders, I think the best way to solve the problem is to spend more money on educating people when they are young. It's harder to reeducate people when they are older.

This question reminds me of a satire piece I've read: http://politicalirony.com/2011/06/05/a-modest-proposal/ . The most important line being at the end, suggesting that we give "our schools the resources necessary to keep our students OUT of prison".
  • A reply on Conversation: What are the defining qualities of today's youth?

Oct 12 2011: It's good that people are making online relationships in addition to offline ones, but do you think their attention gets divided when that happens? Or is the online network truly just an extension of the friends that people already have.
  • A reply on Conversation: What are the defining qualities of today's youth?

Oct 11 2011: Although today's youth is more connected through the Internet, I think that they are also more disconnected socially, as they spend more time on the Internet rather than making real contact with people. For example, people have many "friends" these days on Facebook, but the connection between these friends are probably not as strong.
  • A reply on Conversation: Money doesn't exist, not really.

Oct 7 2011: hog means to acquire, keep, or use a much greater share of a certain resource compared to most other people
  • A reply on Conversation: Money doesn't exist, not really.

Oct 7 2011: Oh, I see. My take on what is the problem of wealth distribution is that as human beings, each one of us has much to contribute to the Earth. However, if some people hog and take up a large percentage of the world's resources in the form of money, then other people will find it harder to spend money on what they need to help to improve the world.

Oct 7 2011: What is it that you don't understand after reading the article?
  • A reply on Conversation: Money doesn't exist, not really.

Oct 7 2011: That's explained a bit more in the article mentioned above.
  • A comment on Conversation: Money doesn't exist, not really.

Oct 7 2011: It is difficult to create policies that can solve the problem of wealth distribution. Also, there are always grey areas and some people will always find ways to game the system. The way to address the issue might be to increase awareness in the populace, since it seems many people do not understand the issues they are facing.
