I love human beings. We are all so beautiful, and often forget. When I was five years old an uncle told me I was smart and asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" My answer, "Happy." He replied, "No, really, what do you want to BE when you grow up?" Again: "Happy." Little did I realize that we humans make it so difficult for ourselves to find happiness, and I'm in that boat usually too. *** My Life has been one blessing after another and I am infinitely grateful to be alive on this glorious Planet Earth. I believe God lives inside of each of us, in whatever form God takes, whatever name we choose to call it by. When I've allowed myself to be guided by this internal voice, I've experienced deep satisfaction in relationships, health, creativity and business. *** My career has been the place where I experience the greatest adventure, feeling naturally called to be a serial social entrepreneur. The main areas I've worked in are socially conscious event planning, life coaching, leadership training and sustainability consulting. *** Since we spend most of our waking hours "at work" -- shouldn't it be a place where we find GREAT joy? A place that stretches us to our personal and creative edges and enhances everything else in our Lives? THAT is the world I want to create. *** I founded my business, The Co-Lab, in 2009 to support leaders in creating institutions where people find happiness at work. With help from my BRiLLiANT coach and some very wise close friends, I got clear on my values and skills and then LET GO to allow Life to bring me the "form" of my work. *** The Co-Lab consults for hospital executives on values-based leadership, specifically focusing on the value of Sustainability -- or as I prefer to call it -- Honoring Life. We are totally passionate about the influence of health care in transforming our society from one that does not consistently honor Life, to one that does. Our first two clients were two of the top hospitals in the U.S., UCSF Medical Center (my birthplace!) and UCLA Health System. Both are very dynamic and stellar institutions, and complex systems. Tremendous leadership and vision are required to genuinely institutionalize the value of Sustainability within them. *** What I really do is LOVE PEOPLE. I genuinely do love everyone, no matter the behavior. This is by far my greatest joy, and it is the reason behind any success i have ever experienced. *** I was born in 1975, the Year of the Rabbit, in the beloved city of St. Francis of Assisi (San Francisco) to two parents whose integrity is sometimes beyond my comprehension: Carmen Luisa Rios-Ramirez and Joseph Anthony Rios. Their honorable parenting and devoted Love for me is the foundation on which I stand. *** My lifelong art is written correspondence. I am a lover of rivers, canyons, co-creating, color, the immensely passionate music of Michael Jackson and Michael as a person as well, the culture and spirit of Brazil, islands, writing, dancing, frisbee (especially on the beach), the innocence of the human soul, Kauai, my beautiful cottage in Cardiff-by-the-Sea California, the teachings of Jesus, the erotic pulse at the core of existence, piano, feet, cappuccinos, children, and increasingly each day as I grow more mature and more alive... myself. *** Thank YOU for being alive!
I'm passionate about people being happy and about the beauty of the human spirit. Lives being authentic and fully expressed. Sesame Street and the values of kindness,, sharing, wonder.
Happiness is the greatest gift we can give to anyone. If we all loved ourselves enough to be committed to our own happiness, we would have a healthy planet. Sustainability is not about what's "out there" -- external factors and circumstances -- it is about who we are being.
