  • A reply on Conversation: Is it possible that the depiction of males (stereotypical males) in electronic media is responsible for the demise of male (general)?

Aug 12 2011: Maybe its not a "crises" because it was expected and not regretted.

Aug 12 2011: On that note: I always felt that many "assessments" in life whether for employment or education are biased in favor to males. But the tables aren't necessarily turning. Are boys failing now that the assessments are fair? Are girls succeeding because they are fair? Is this something no one wants to face or question?

Aug 12 2011: This is a good point because women have been portrayed as weak, inferior, and perpetual victims or if not the ultimate "She Devil" for years and society mirrored the example.

Aug 12 2011: Over simplifying the differences in the sexes is also unrealistic. Women are not nurturing, they are MORE nurturing and that's not all women at all times. Why does everyone keep denying men their ability to be emotional. That's the way we have been thinking for years. Perhaps this is the root of the problem. Try something different for a change. A man can be a man without having to prove he's not a woman. I don't think a woman would have to remind herself she's a woman. Women have had many horrible role models over the years just the same. The overall lesson is that she invents herself not the she before her.

A reply on Talk: Philip Zimbardo: The demise of guys?

Aug 12 2011: ---- "Male strength is not (or should not) be about physical or emotional domination, the male archetype based on positive strengths is about...well it is embodied in the circular notion of what it is to be a man."

    Well said.

----- " Boys aren't girls, and if they are raised by strong women without a strong male counterbalancing influence, I believe the result can be disfunction manifested in many ways."

However, I have seen strong women raise solid men out of their sons as single parents. The reason why this does not happen often is because the narrow-minded views of society get in the way. Making women believe they can't raise their sons, for example. Society plays the role of environment and can vary the outcome of the desired result without warning. We also have to accept that dysfunctions will occur regardless because no one is perfect. NO MAN NEEDS ANOTHER MAN IN EXISTENCE TO PROVE THAT HE IS A MAN.

Simply put boys should be taught that a man defines himself not his gender.

Aug 12 2011: I think boys have been "wiping out socially with girls" for centuries. The only difference lately is that women have more voice in society and are not keeping quiet.

I do not believe that men are declining but that women are rising.

Also I believe this may be connected to the shrinking Y-chromosome phenomenon.
  • A comment on Talk: Jeremy Gilley: One day of peace

Aug 12 2011: Funny, I always had this idea in my head. I am #1 to support it. I believe that this day should be a national holiday in every country. It should also disrupt any plans for war. Not even preparations, weapons production, or spying should occur. The military should also celebrate.
