A comment on Talk: Allan Savory: How to fight desertification and reverse climate change

Mar 4 2013: This guy reminds me of Pardot Kynes and is a very compelling character in his own right. The karmic debt of 40 thousand wasted elephants is unimaginable but this man of action may yet break even.

A reply on Talk: Amanda Palmer: The art of asking

Mar 1 2013: "If Justin Bieber "crowdsourced" his maid service to teenage girls who were "happy to do it for free," that wouldn't unsettle you? "

Brilliant analogy! I think it is wonderfully apt here. I do however disagree with your condemnation of this hypothetical maid exchange.
As long as everyone involved is a consenting adult, I have no problem WHATSOEVER with this agreement.

This talk has sparked the best exchange of ideas I have seen on TED in a long time. Mods please do not be heavy handed with the moderation today.

A comment on Talk: Miguel Nicolelis: A monkey that controls a robot with its thoughts. No, really.

Feb 18 2013: I am dying to hear Karl Pilkington's interpretation of this on Monkey News.

A comment on Talk: Esther Perel: The secret to desire in a long-term relationship

Feb 14 2013: How about we acknowledge that monogamy is just not for a huge percentage of us? Now that we do not have to work 18 hours a day on a farm to feed ourselves , we can explore other options. I honestly believe that most of us would be much happier if we stopped trying to shove our lives into this silly romantic marriage box that really only ever suited a small segment of the population.

Jan 19 2013: All the big stuff like violence gets better every year. Violent crime rates keep going down in my country yet everyone thinks they are going up.
When all you see on the news each night is tragedy you assume its happening on a huge scale when the reality is just the opposite.

Jan 19 2013: As I stated before, we have much to work to do here but immense progress is being made. Life in the streets is very different that the picture you get from the news. Also you have to remember that our country is enormous. It is much more apt to think of us like Europe with the states representing different countries. I have lived in Los Angeles and the Texas bible belt. The cultures are vastly different. That is one reason that it takes us so long to iron out some of our social problems.

Jan 19 2013: I find that very tame Kareem. It just does not offend me. I fear you going to absolutely hate the music video about vagazzling that I am making...

Jan 19 2013: Richard I am an atheist with a strong desire to proselytize. I like to engage Christians (especially Mormans)and Muslims in debate. You will find if you review my posts here that I do this mostly without kid gloves. I do this online and and in my real life.
I am also a lifelong skeptic with many new age friends. I challenge them constantly and they me.
20 years ago this sort of frank discussion would get people very upset indeed.
These days its just a very civil argument with an eventual exploration of common ground.
I find that if you decide upfront that you love humans no matter what ideas they may hold dear, you have a very different experience in life.

Jan 19 2013: "The real question is... why do people increasingly lack respect for others? "

I honestly think the exact opposite is true. Except for internet trolls and the ridiculous extreme left vs the extreme right, people seem to be getting along better than ever.

Jan 19 2013: We are far from perfect but we have come a long long way in the last ten years.Don't ask don't tell is over, and most of my gay friends are out and proud.
What are you trying to get at exactly? I fear we are drifting off topic.
