About Me

San Francisco-based Artist and Designer whose work makes invisible events (such as seismic data from nuclear testing) visible. David makes memorials that use live data feeds from conflict areas to signal events in real-time. In one work, gunshots and IED explosions recorded by American Marines in Iraq trigger light waves to ripple across a wall, while in another, a bell tolls to spikes in seismic data from nuclear weapons tests in the Nevada desert. His current project, "PAX AMERICANA," harnesses real-time seismic data to signal the intensity of ground vibration caused by bombs, troop movement and latent seismic events they occur in conflict areas. He will debut the project at the Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco, California. David received his M.F.A. from California College for the Arts in 2007. He was also a 2007 Headlands Center for the Arts’ Artist in Residence. David received a 2010 Center for Cultural Innovation, Investing in Artists Grant and was also awarded a Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship. He is a 2011 Eureka Fellow. His work has been included in national and international exhibitions. His designs have been recognized by the FWA public shortlist, WordPress featured site and received Communication Arts, “Site of the Day.” Currently, David is the Creative Director and co-founder of Brainvise, a creative consultancy making everything from Apps to Art.
