Hugo has over 15 years experience working in IT, consulting and technology (startup) firms with a strong focus on Internet applications and User Experience.
Hugo grew from being a consultant and developer on client-server projects to User Experience designer on Internet/mobile projects. He was the (front-end) technical lead for the User Experience groups at Cambridge Technology Partners (Amsterdam) and later Accenture (Zurich).
User Experience and Interaction Design. Moving to mobile. Learning new things thoroughly. Quality. Complex things made simple. Skiing. :-)
Around the world and at TED there are many people who know how to do - and make - things "right": who have successfully solved problems that still have to be solved in many parts of the world. I am optimistic that eventually, this will trickle up to the entire world population.
Those ideas - the ideas about how to fix things - are worth spreading!
Let us work on accelerating the adoption of the right ideas.

Things they haven't seen me do or heard me talk about. Since many people know I have a technical background they sometimes don't expect me to have creative qualities too.
I'm on the organizing committee for TEDxZurich and I'm responsible for the production (stage, presentations, Audio/Video). See: http://tedxzurich.com
I have translated and reviewed translations for several TEDTalks. I've attended several TEDx events including TEDxAmsterdam, TEDxZug and TEDxInnsbruck. I organized a viewing party for TED2010 which brought 10 people together who hadn't previously met.
I organized TEDxZurich since 2010. We are working on TEDxLive2013, TEDxZurich2013 and planning a TEDxZurichSalon and other events.
I contributed to the TEDxWorkshops at the TEDs and TEDx's I attended and at the TEDxSummit in Doha.
At TED Global 2005 in Oxford I got hooked on TED and went to as many as I could since. I made contacts with speakers and attendees who I've later connected with other people in my network.
TEDGLobal 2007 was my second TED and my introduction to Africa. Afterwards I climbed up Kilimanjaro with an awesome bunch of TEDsters.
