  • A comment on Talk: Devdutt Pattanaik: East vs. West -- the myths that mystify

Feb 23 2010: Very much like me... I always wanted to do something like this and was very much on the way. But as he told that Bharat found hundreds of flags claiming 1st conquerer of Mount Meru, i am getting the same feeling now.
Well as far as that Future group is concerned i got an opportunity to conduct a survey on the employees of big baazar- the retail chain of future group as a part of my MBA. Believe me most of them ( front line workers and sales staff) were in pathetic condition. Don't mind but i am now inclined towards Alexander's point of view of doing things rather than imagining. Merely talking big and great will not do justice to society. Its application is equally important. Don't mind Mr. Devdutta but i am amazed that i met employees of a company that has one CBO .I have given it a thought now its your turn.

A comment on Talk: Isabel Allende: Tales of passion

Feb 22 2010: completely agree with isabel and it reminded me of the old saying -If you educate a man you educate a person, but if you educate a woman, you educate a family.
I believe that women can do wonders if given appropriate chances. I would like to cite the example of Bangladesh - see the success of micro credit programme of Nobel winner Md.Younus. most of the borrowers of grameen bank are women.
Another thing that impressed me about this presentation was that how effectively isabel used a blend of all the emotions and made her point on a critical issue. excellent....
  • A comment on Talk: Beau Lotto: Optical illusions show how we see

Feb 20 2010: i wonder how would i find my girl friend if i take her to a different place (background / noise)... hehehe. just kidding
well i think this illusion is not limited to optical systems only. It is true for interaction of persons and their behaviour and how we perceive them in different contexts. Same behaviour can be seen in different lights depending on the observer and situation. Same words may send opposite meaning by tailored intonations

A comment on Talk: Romulus Whitaker: The real danger lurking in the water

Feb 20 2010: Amazing.... I just tried to see beyond his presentation on screen . This made me even more curious about this person and his projects . I went through various sources like wikipedia and several other google searches to explore in this direction. I was astonished that how this person knew about the problems of my country better than me . While i was searching more about mr. whitaker i learned that he was the founder of the snake park in Madras which i visited last year.
This is an inspiring and admonishing presentation simultaneously . Just see how he talks about his projects and how he respects the beliefs of people of a certain region.I have seen quite a few videos of this fellow on NGC but after watching this i can say that now i respect him more than ever before.
