And that I disagree with.
I don't think it's about retracting back to the past of limited choice, but about learning to handle the current amount of choice better. Society evolves and with new opportunities come new problems to solve, new skills to build, new ways to expand ourselves...
I think Mr.Schwartz's ideas and observations are impressive and I would love to hear him talk about how we can make better decisions and feel happier about the decisions we do end up making.

I do think that eventually when computers evolve with multi-touch-sensitive screens like the iPhone, some elements of this interface would be useful.
I actually think that 3D-simulating interfaces will improve a lot the HCI in the future.. However, when it comes to organizing and sorting information, a more 2D-ish interface might very well be superior, as I think it has the ability to condense and simplify information, and make it easier to manage / handle.
