  • A comment on Talk: JJ Abrams: The mystery box

Jul 21 2009: Loved the talk, the concept of the mystery box was very inspiring. Actually reminded me of how when I was little, I always used to wonder what's in the shiny gift boxes under the Xmas trees in the malls. I knew they must be empty, but I liked to imagine there could be anything there, and the feeling of all the possibilities was true magic.
  • A comment on Talk: Renny Gleeson on antisocial phone tricks

Apr 11 2009: Brilliant... Excellent point, well presented (especially considering the short duration), funny, and what a poignant ending! Hope more people watch this.
  • A comment on Talk: Barry Schwartz: The paradox of choice

Feb 28 2008: Intriguing perspective and plenty of food for thought. I haven't read Mr.Schwartz's book; in this video he identifies an interesting problem without talking much about a solution... besides suggesting that we should limit our amount of choice in order to be happier.

    And that I disagree with.

I don't think it's about retracting back to the past of limited choice, but about learning to handle the current amount of choice better. Society evolves and with new opportunities come new problems to solve, new skills to build, new ways to expand ourselves...

I think Mr.Schwartz's ideas and observations are impressive and I would love to hear him talk about how we can make better decisions and feel happier about the decisions we do end up making.
  • A comment on Talk: Anand Agarawala demos BumpTop

Feb 28 2008: I had the same thoughts as Barry Smith and Allan Hutton... Very gee-whiz, but I think this 3D simulating experience would be more of a burden than an improvement to the current desktop interfaces.

I do think that eventually when computers evolve with multi-touch-sensitive screens like the iPhone, some elements of this interface would be useful.

I actually think that 3D-simulating interfaces will improve a lot the HCI in the future.. However, when it comes to organizing and sorting information, a more 2D-ish interface might very well be superior, as I think it has the ability to condense and simplify information, and make it easier to manage / handle.
  • A comment on Talk: Kenichi Ebina's magic moves

Feb 28 2008: This video is really bad quality indeed :-( But Kenichi is one of the most incredible dancers and most creative choreographers I have ever seen - definitely my favorite performer in his genre. If you ever have the chance to watch him live you'll be blown away, just like I was... highly recommended!!
