Jul 21 2010: Hi Baurzhan, an internet troll is someone who causes annoyance to other users, deliberately posts specious, provocative and off-topic arguments, flames, or personal attacks to a newsgroup, forum, community etc in order to disrupt the ongoing discussion. You can learn more about them on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_%28Internet%29 . What I meant by "writing in capitals" I meant "WRITING EVERYTHING OR MOST OF IT IN CAPITALS". You can see how annoying it gets and most people consider it as shouting, but that doesn't mean you should never write anything in capitals. You're right about the fact that it sometimes creates resonance as long as it's used wisely.

A comment on Talk: Elif Shafak: The politics of fiction

Jul 20 2010: I am very downhearted to see that trolls live even in communities like TED. I am young and still have so much to learn, nevertheless, I am grateful for the wisdom that nearly ten years of experience with people on the internet has bestowed upon me. Therefore, I would kindly ask you not to feed these trolls, please ignore them.
This talk has already been filled up with junk comments, and I think it's far beyond saving even though the author has removed many of them, so, you arguing with these trolls will make it even worse. In case you can't recognize them, try to figure out by looking at their comment points, writing in CAPITALS or the number of times they said the same useless stuff.
I know, you may be inclined to consider me a troll as well, considering my comment points, I can't blame you for that but that's just my second comment on TED and I doubt that there will be a third one until I figure out how to express myself more clearly.

Jul 16 2010: An excellent speech. I hope this talk will have its desired effect on minds which still think that all Turkish people are like the characters that are portrayed in the movie called Midnight Express. Also, I do realize (and know from experience) that stories and novels can change the way we see the world. Thank you Elif Şafak.
