A comment on Conversation: What are 5 things you have learned that has completely changed your life?

Jun 17 2012: Learning Philosophy is the greatest thing in the world to me

1-live your truth - its such a hard thing to do -
2-learn to meditate to hear the wisdom in your own soul-dont think you know who you are - it takes 21 days to form a habit so start a new good one today and allow it to become a part of who you want to be -
3-exercise is the greatest tool for fighting the heartaches in life
4-when you have reason in the mind and love in the heart you'll be fine - if someone hurts you, try to reason with their reasons for doing so and let it slide- you would not sell your happiness for a million dollars so why give it away for free- dont drink the poison intended for your enemies.
5- if you want a friend be a friend

A comment on Conversation: How would you describe the purpose of life in one sentence?

Feb 25 2011: I feel the most accurate way of lucking at the purpose of life is to find your own personal freedom, finding a place where you may have pain and suffering but you learn to rise above the event.
  • A comment on Talk: Richard Dawkins: Militant atheism

Feb 3 2011: It is hard for people to let go of God . my father argued with me over faith and belief in a higher power. he just finished the argument with "show me a better way". I worry about undermining faith on the basis of pursuing proof . Yes the bible is completely flawed but imagine a being coming from another dimension where gravity does not exist and a file full of earth science comes his way and gravity is explained on this file. would such a simple force be completely believable. Science accepts it because it witnesses it.
  • A comment on Talk: Ken Robinson: Bring on the learning revolution!

Jan 19 2011: I feel so sorry for the lost souls who never found their calling. what about them. Where did we fail them. I was educated in a school where my career guidance consisted of a 5 min interview. I offered up the desire to be a policemen and went onto be one. MY career guidance teachers reply was- "sure you are a fine big lad." I hated it

My problem is that education does not try to understand that as children we need guidance. I know that my generation in Ireland(late 80 school leavers) a huge number of kids left school afraid and confused because we didnt know ourselves at all. What use is bloody latin when you are filling in a college form with titles of courses you know so little about. Career understanding is everything. Why do we find that kids have to go to "certain" schools to learn about personal developement .
  • A comment on Talk: Andrew Bird's one-man orchestra of the imagination

Nov 5 2010: Songwriters can throw out crazy ideas and not have to back it up with graphs and data”

personally that is the thing that frustrates me about music in a way. If i run 9.5 secs for the 100 metres then I am the fastest man on earth . If I write a song you would have the right to say it was great or terrible . the problem is your assessment would be most likely influenced by your own musical preferences, experiences. Some great songs are never heard because of this and some awful ones sell a million . Will we ever get a Joni Mitchell or a Palul Simon again. Are we patient enough to embrace true genius. can we recognise a runner of great speed without checking the time.

A reply on Talk: Ken Robinson: Bring on the learning revolution!

May 24 2010: The question is does he need to provide the answers. I think he just needs to ask the questions. I live in Ireland where 5 years ago the "mantra" was all around buying houses, getting on the ladder so to speak. In Berlin 85% rent their homes. now with the global financial crisis people are screwed by their devalued property. We never saw it coming and we adopted the old ideals passed down from generation to generation .

The true talent is embracing your place in the world. The happiest people I know makes no apologies for who they are and dance to their own song.

A comment on Talk: Nancy Etcoff: Happiness and its surprises

Jan 30 2010: Kahill Gibrahn put it great when he talked about Freedom
" Freedom is not a life without pain or suffering. It's having pain and suffering in your life but being able to rise above it".

Newton on his death bed said.

"What have been but a boy, standing on a beach, turning over a smoother stone or a shinnier pebble while an ocean of understanding lay before me."

these two ideas have circled my soul for years. I know that balance in one's life and a perception of our own wealth is the key to the engine of happiness.
