• A comment on Conversation: How can automation take over in our work? Would it be possible where all our work is automated? What would happen to us then?

  Apr 14 2012: Definitely pretty much everything that can be automated will be automated... But that does not mean that humans will be obsolete.
  
  Parallelly, we will enhance ourselves and with the help of automation, we will be freer for creative pursuits.
  
  The path is most likely convergent for automation and humans (perhaps even a lot of natural life) towards the emergence of a 'higher entity'.

  Apr 14 2012: I believe that good and evil are relative and ambiguous terms. If we can agree on one definition, it might make it easier to discuss.

  A comment on Conversation: Can and will books ever be replaced by something other than we know it today?

  Apr 14 2012: YES !!!... I think that all books can be replaced by something much better. Experiences. Like in the fictional Pensieve in the Harry Potter Series.
  
  Once we understand and how the brain works, it might be possible to download memories (like in Matrix series) and experiences. Of course there could be many variants of these technologies. But I believe that the demand for tangible books will dwindle over time.
