Jan 15 2013: Dear Sally,
The proof is in the tasting, have you tasted organic food. It tastes great. When I first went to Holland I wondered why the tomatoes had no taste. They are grown in greenhouses with artificial light. Lots of dutch people don't eat their own tomatoes but these same tomatoes are exported to the USA where they are held in high estime :-) .Tomatoes grown in the sun of South Africa where I grew up are delicious, no pesticides. No pests when veggies are grown together with the right combinations to limit pest damage.
Regarding holistic medicine, sure , homeopathathic medicine is not going to hear glioblastoma or an ingunal hernia. :-) But it can help minor aliments.
@ Stew, yes, often it is at the cost of taste. :-D
Keep well guys!
Sure there are great advances in GM modification and there are certain benefits but it is not the answer to all.
Have you heard of the suicide rates of farmers in India after they were submerged in debt because of the failed monsanto genetically engineered crops? Yield was lower than expected and the farmers spiral into debt. 20 years ago gm modification was said to be the answer to the worlds food problems. Why is there still this problem?
I have seen permaculture, biological food production , bio dynamic farms in areas where there is very little water with very bad soil fertility. Those societies are self sufficient Food production does not need to be gm modified.

A comment on Conversation: Forget this GE engineering as we need to learn more before using this technology so widely. Consider the Monsanto efforts with GMO crops.
Caution is the better part of valor!

Why would you donate a wind turbine if he is already making them? I would suggest that you donate parts.
