The idea of freedom being a universal term and that we all as a human society need to be able to say that we can go anywhere and be free before we are and what we can do to achieve and what dangers we will have to face and what we as humans are willing to do. also a way of making a low fat microwaveable burger.
anything you feel like.
Fixing my computer... I'm quite handy with a screwdriver and a forum.

A comment on Conversation: Which video game has challenged your perspective on the way you live your life and how?
one a side mission in the game, you learn that there are 2 sides to the geth, 2 religious factions. their programming was a few 0's and 1's different from each other in the beginning due to a programming error (of which side you don't know) and a religious war between the 2 factions of geth had broken out.
after a few shooting bits, you end up at a console. you have the option of changing the programming of the geth so that the programming is corrected without them even realising or you can destroy them.
It asks the question, what if you could have you view changed, something that you are willing to die for in a second. so that say for the argument that you would meet a past version of yourself and want to kill each other.
very hard one indeed. but thats why i like games, they ask very hard questions and reveal things about yourself rather than teach you a lesson... that what an interactive experience is made for! (that and fun!)
A reply on Conversation: Whatever has a beginning to its existence must have a cause. What reason is there to believe this causal principle is true?
In regards to my belief system. I believe that there is no finite way to prove that a higher being or god exists. I have seen no evidence that it exists or not, be it in a tangible way of seeing and hearing or on a different level of existence all together.
So in my view, I remain neutral and understand that people have their points of view, however I cannot make an informed decision on no evidence at all. This defines me away from atheists because they have the dogmatic approach of "there is no god" based also on faith rather than a solid grounding of evidence.
I also hold in reserve that if god is found to be working on a completely different level of existence to us, then how can he possibly relate to us. how can he know the significance of our problems... its like me talking about how painful pregnancy is. If the discovery of god i evidenced and substantiated, then at most will make an interesting reference point than anything else.
as for falling on my lap or searching... I tend to just live my life and listen all i can, maybe i will learn something about god... maybe i will learn something about making some awesome pancakes, its all good.
A reply on Conversation: Whatever has a beginning to its existence must have a cause. What reason is there to believe this causal principle is true?
a cause implies it has some sort of direct end goal...
we assign meaning to these actions. their direct affect my be the most obvious and may seem to be their cause, however Its most likely a chemical, biological or instinctual "knee jerk" reaction that occurs that different processes (be they chemical, biological or instinctual) react to or adapt to. As for God... you can't say he exists in a traditional or non traditional way for certain... observe being agnostic until you have some evidence other than "faith" that he does not or does exist.
intention is a very unusual term when it comes the the universe. the universe could have the mind of a scientist and just be doing thing for the sake of doing them and seeing what happens for a laugh or curiosity.
the fact is we simply categorise things... its our name for it. "rose by any other name" i think is the best way to describe it.
A comment on Conversation: SOPA wants to modernize penal and enforcement policies, should we also modernize definition of Intellectual Property?
everyone gets to have a look, no more reason for piracy (in the case of people getting it because they can't afford it or they just want to try before they buy, which is what 90% of people do) and the companies who make it, get to have a second wind of people buying their stuff after people have tried it (more sales!).
why no one has done this is beyond me!
edit: give 2 hour use of the media online for free! then they can go have a full look at it in the library if they already have the machine!
A comment on Conversation: How about using mystical stories as a placebo to help people in difficult situations to cope? But telling them, IT IS A PLACEBO.
A comment on Conversation: Whatever has a beginning to its existence must have a cause. What reason is there to believe this causal principle is true?
Nope... we invent them. we fill the environment we are placed in and we develop around each other.
2. The universe began to exist
Maybe the universe began because if there was nothing to exist, so that non-existence was not actually possible without existence in the first place so something was made from nothing to define both sides and everything else was just an after effect.
or maybe it was a certain spectrum of dimensional plain that had nowhere to be put because of its very nature of needing somewhere to be put... maybe we are the conservatory of creation.
or maybe its pure creation was to make plastic.
we just don't know..
3. Therefore, the universe has a cause
probably not...
that implies that it was created with a specific end result. I highly doubt that.
A comment on Conversation: Why are there none, or so few, TED talks addressing gender identity and sexuality issues?
As for skin colour or race discrimination based on what ethnicity they fall into, that is bang out of order.
As for addressing discomfort... why don't you find a transgender pride day somewhere and buy him/her a drink and say "I don't understand you, but I would like to" they get some booze, you get some knowledge and I'm sure in most cases you won't even have to buy them a drink if you ask nicely.
A comment on Conversation: Can science fix a broken heart ?
in the case of a broken heart... I guess it would be the manipulation of hormones and psychological cleansing that would "fix" a broken heart... however I think fixing it is a bad idea... our experiences define us and help us grow emotionally and to be able to just fix it, like popping a pill would remove something that is important to being human.
A comment on Conversation: less than 1% paid for the worlds weapons would be enough to put every child to school, still it doesn't happen. How can we change this?
It is not essential to have a military in most of these negotiations, however simply having it as a tool in a politicians arsenal is enough to make a war lord bend to the will of an opposing faction and also ensures that agreements are met and insured. nothing like a bullet to the head or the threat of a bullet to the head to make people do what you want them to do.
unless you can find a way of ensuring that no one has the "I've got a bigger gun/more guns than you" argument does not get into play, then you have a solution to the problem... however I suspect that even if such a solution was envisaged, it would just be another political tool in the back pocket with the military solutions.
to get education to everyone, its a case of ensuring that the economies of the world have equal investment in humanity and getting them to invest in programs, that put all politicians in the same boat that would provide a court on which to discuss free world education. however I believe that at this era of our lives, education requires vast improvement in order to reach a level that would make it universal and desirable to all cultures and peoples.
