Mar 26 2012: I appreciate it! If we do it right, I hope that we can help them learn how to find out about things that interest them on their own with or without our presence. The plan is to give them the critical thinking skills necessary to make them curious, informed citizens who look at the world as a work in progress that they can impact through positive actions. Because our students are in poorer schools, they don't always receive the most innovative or challenging lessons and that can leave them with the impression that they have no choices and no power. But they have both. We want to show them the options and let them show us what they learn.
