In a Nutshell, I'm that annoyingly Optimistic girl that everyone knows of, but no one REALLY knows. At 5 foot 8 inches tall, I'm also that awkwardly clumsy friend you like taking pictures with because they make you feel short. I'm a self-taught Guitar and Piano player, and a proud member of the Choir's Alto section for 7 years now :-) I love laughing, and I love making people laugh. I've worn glasses ever since I can remember, and I have a love/hate relationship with my nose thanks to my Italian-Guatemalan genes and the bullies I've encountered since middle school. OH, and I was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome at 15 years old. Marfan Syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects the connective tissue all throughout the body. People with MS are generally defined as being tall, lanky people who often have eyesight problems and difficulty building muscle. It's basically the perfect formula for your modern day awkward turtle, right? Sure. But since finding out that I have Marfan Syndrome, I've made it my life's mission to help teens feel at home in their own bodies. I want to help youth all over the world learn to love their quirks and to embrace the things that make them different. Xoxo -Aly
An idea worth spreading
The only thing Labels/Stereotypes do is make us afraid to get to know new people. They keep us from learning and growing, both in our minds, in our hearts, and in our experiences. And don't just keep an Open mind, keep an Open LIFE. Let opportunity in when opportunity knocks.
I'm passionate about
Acceptance. Acceptance of yourself, acceptance of others, acceptance of occurrences. And not only accepting these things, but learning to love and appreciate them for what they are as well.
Talk to me about
Anything and everything. Especially random, little-known facts that only matter in specific situations :-)
People don't know I'm good at
Getting all 5 stars while playing Just Dance on the Wii.
