I've been an English professor both in the online and terrestrial environments for six years. Since I work at three schools, I've had the opportunity to work with a very diverse student population. I have a BA in English from Ellis College and an MA in English from National University. Both were online programs, so I can relate to the challenges of the online learning environment. I've taught composition and rhetoric, along with several literature courses at Merced College, Modesto Junior College and the University of California (Merced campus) since 2008. I just began my tenure with Southern New Hampshire University as an online writing instructor. Prior to going into teaching, I worked as a radio announcer and a newspaper writer/editor, so I have a pretty strong background in writing in the "real world." I decided to get back into online teaching after a bit of a sabbatical because I feel that I can relate to the needs of today's online student. I went to school full-time in online programs because I had work and family concerns to deal with. I like the flexibility that the online environment offers for both students and instructors.
