May 4 2013: The narrator, this David guy, soon will frail and die of ageing with high probability, squirming on his death bed in agony. And his son and then his cute grandson will follow this pattern. They mostly accept it, but still it's suffering and death. It will go on for generations until the meteor big enough will stop this succession of pain. Perhaps it's for the best. There are no ambitions for the future, mostly no one wants to abolish ageing, people want to procreate and "grow old together", all what is happening is for just DNA replication sake.
May 1 2013: What is terribly wrong with it yet widely accepted is generations change. Mortality is accepted. On behalf of his grandson he decided that his grandson will suffer and die of aging. So if person is irrelevant, if it is a sedimental layer in knowledge then for what sake we need this sort of burning-corpses-in-ovens humanity?
Apr 22 2009: "If we can not control our population, there would be no point in increasing lifespan as there would be no hospitable environment left for future generations." - Can't control? Maybe it's because planet is run by 30-60 yo children. Yes. right. that's why we do not live 2001 Odyssey style. Because people live rabbit style.
Banning anti-aging researches is a bad idea, it's both unethical, same with forcing people away, and may cause overall aging of Earth population. Take Japan and other developed countries. The birthrate is falling there and population aging swiftly. It's only matter of time when other countries will become developed and we will have global nursing home on our hands.
Overpopulation is a hype. We have enough space and recourses. We just do not know how to use those efficiently, for the aging process kills our best men. The only true recourse is intelligence. Stone age was over not because we ran out of stones - we invent iron ax.
