Ruben Dario Cruz-Rodriguez was born in Bucaramanga, Colombia in 1972. He obtained the MSc. degree in Electrical Power and the BSc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Industrial de Santander - UIS (Bucaramanga, Colombia), and the Ph. D. degree in Electrical Engineering at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana - UPB (Medellin, Colombia) sponsored by Interconexion Electrica S.A. E.S.P. - ISA. His employment experience included ECOPETROL (1995, 1997-1998), UTS (1997), ISA (2000-2004) and UIS (1997, 1999-2000, 2004-2012) he is presently Director of Research and Development at CIDET (Center of Research and Technological Development for the Electrical Sector). His research areas of interest include operation, planning and regulation of interconnected electric power markets. He has authored and co-authored several technical papers in computational models for electrical systems planning.
