Douglas Franks Posted about 1 year ago Amanda Bennett: We need a heroic narrative for death Is Easter taboo? So many have been enriched in hope when meeting death because of Easter. Is Easter taboo for TED? I was a dead man a couple years ago. A two liter tumor filled my abdomen destroying organ function and circulation. There was a calm sorrow, lying holding my wife’s hand receiving infusions of various things. Many people avoided me I guess preferring to keep death at arm’s length. The hope we have because of Easter sustained me. Death would not be the ultimate outcome. The tumor shrank. When the size of a grapefruit a surgeon took it. The pathologist said there was nothing viable in what the surgeon removed. So I have a reprieve. I will one day again look at the transition that death brings. What happened at Easter does not change.
