I am an artist, designer, emerging screenwriter, filmmaker and full-time design professor at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City. I teach the design process, creative problem solving, problem identification and have explored the power of storytelling in the art and design fields. My work and personal interests are focused upon understanding and observing the subtleties and nuances of the human condition, interactions, time and space. Throughout my life I have pursued various forms of art and design that all connect. Through a variety of forms of art, design, poetry, music, photography and multi-platform media, I aspire to create compelling, emotional, spiritual stories and journeys that help shift our thoughts, to empower, explore and inspire.
Questions remain as to how, and in what ways we are shaped by nature or nurture, by our environments and our families. Although many of us have come from nurturing and supportive environments, this does not seem to indicate that some individuals can make use of these environments to help pursue our hopes, dreams and goals. I am looking for experts within medicine, sociology, anthropology, psychology and the psychiatric fields. There is a need for a significant increase in scientific and medical research to help better understand the effect of specific influences upon our minds, bodies and spirits throughout our lives.
On January 19th of 2007, a life-threatening and life-changing event forced me to obsessively examine the influences in my life and what might have caused a brain abscess and infection. The doctor called it an explosion in the brain. I continue to search for if, or what may have created this explosion.
