About Trenton

An idea worth spreading

The main reason people come to understand and care about other cultures is the food that comes from those places. Most people can't recall when they first learned that places like China, Mexico, or Italy existed- it was just there, but most people are introduced to the foods from different nations at an early age- things like tacos and egg rolls. Maybe these foods aren't staples in the countries they come from, but they are noted as such, and out of curiosity, the young consumers ask "what is this?", and the parent says it's from here or there. They forget the conversation that led them to knowing, but they never forget that they know.

I'm passionate about

There is so much in this world to love, but above all the things to love, I love food.

Monsanto is an organisation that is poisoning the world.
I'm not sure if the genetically engineered food Monsanto produces is all that bad. It's not like the DNA from the altered plant matter can survive digestion, and incorporate itself into our own DNA to replicate and cause mutation. We're not even within the plant kingdom, so harm caused by genetic engineering is virtually impossible. The real concern should be directed toward pesticides and chemical fertilizer. These products are important in maintaining productivity among crops, but tighter regulation of pesticides couldn't hurt.

We should not bomb Libya.
I think it's better that America simply stays out of Syria's problems. If Russia is as concerned about Syria as they say they are, then it should be Russia that confronts Syria. As of now, America has too much to deal with in both domestic and foreign affairs to concern itself with another tumultuous Middle Eastern nation.

If all of the brilliant high functioning folks on the spectrum choose to, they could create a system of support for all autistics.
You're right about one thing. The task at hand is a bit complicated, but I don't think logistics are the only hurdles to be gotten over for a plan like this. If other high functioning autistics are anything like me then we feel it is prerogative to simply sweep this issue under the rug. What that word is associated with is simply too painful of a subject for those of higher function to go into greater depth about.
