David Boyer Posted 12 months ago Science is developing the tools towards de-extinction of species on the planet that have become extinct. The question becomes; Should we? It's going to be a tough road to hoe with reintroduction of passenger pigeons back into the wild, assuming de-extinction works. At best, they will be captive in zoos and museums for years. The extinction clock was ticking for the last wild birds around 1890 because of their low numbers. And in captivity they did not produce offspring.
