Rajesh Rao: A Rosetta Stone for a lost language
It's really interesting. But the chinese ancient language had each symbol representing a word/thing, rather than alphabet. So each symbol gives a meaning, rather than each symbol gives a sound and a group of symbols give a meaning. I just thought it's interesting to share this.

Tense in english is just rained, since english consists of words and you can easily and -ed to all the verbs to make them past tense. But chinese is made of characters, and it would mean to create thousands more charaters if you want to use the english concept of adding -ed to a word. Therefore we don't add -ed but we add a character 了or 要. It's like adding 'will', which can be translated as 要
