A 16 year old amateur musical composer and performer. I play many acoustic-y instruments, like the guitar, piano, harmonica and darbuka and hope to learn many more. I'm a vocalist and am not associated with any band (as yet, hopefully) but have performed at venues in Karachi including the base rock cafe and school concerts. I'm mostly an acoustic, alternative and indie-folk musician and have been inspired by artists like Bob dylan, Jim Morrison, Jeff Buckley, Robert Plant, Preston Reed, and many many others from that time period. I've taught the guitar and vocals to younger children as a volunteer at CAPA and even organized my own concert which included many underground Karachi bands.
It's true that in Karachi the arts aren't given much importance. There aren't many venues for people to share their art or spread their ideas. The city doesn't provide much of a platform for young musicians, artists, writers, actors, etc which they could possibly use to spread their art and ideas and deliver the importance of the arts. I feel that these ideas are definitely "worth spreading" and TEDx can provide such a platform.
