Bio

I am passionately pursuing to discover and live what I feel my life's purpose is, I believe that life is growth, but I also believe in happily achieving not achieving to be happy. Opportunities should be created not waited for and limitations are there to be broken and in order to do this we must move outside of our comfort zone, create an empowering story and sculpt our mindset and emotions. My life so far has been an exciting process of self discovery and growth, having attended various Anthony Robbins seminars in the USA, having spent 5 weeks travelling in India learning the art of Yoga and serving 6 years in the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Technician. I am passionate about Personal Development and am consistantly conditioning my mind with inspiring and motivating material (such as TED talks ;). I believe that we can all make a bigger impact and a more powerful contribution to society by working as a team so I am eager to connect with others and ignite the creative sparks that lie within us all.

is it a bad idea for one to be sleep deprived in their late-teens and early-twenties?
Kera, have a look at something called Polyphasic sleeping. It is a sleeping pattern which involves short naps throughout the day and in some cases only 2 and a half hours a day of sleep. There have been some studies on this and from a health perspective, there would obviously be some concerns about the quality and depth of sleep, known as REM sleep (rapid eye movement) but the studies showed that your body can adapt to the situation and to short naps spread out through the day. Because the speed at which your body will go into the REM sleep (deep sleep) will be a lot quicker once you adapt to the napping than an individual who sleeps for maybe 8-9 hours a night, where it may take their body's up to 90 minutes to enter this stage. Hope this helps.

How does one know what is wrong and what is right?
Good question......Maybe there is no right or wrong, only experience? I think that words also have different meanings with people, so maybe your rules for what would have to happen for something to be right or wrong maybe different from someone else's rules for what has to happen.

Why are YOU killing the planet?
I totally agree LaMAr and I truly believe a consciousness shift is needed and I believe it is happening, but the tipping point in which the masses will realise the damage we are making has no definitive timeline, if it will at all. I believe that mother nature is far more powerful than any technology, or any individual mind on this planet and I fear that if we as a species continue to abuse that and disconnect from the source of our creation further then we may experience a shock as a species. God forbid this does not happen and that mankind as a whole can have the emotional experiences that will make us all equally value the environment and the natural resources around us. The only thing I can hope for is plenty of ripples in the ocean being created by the people of the world rather than depending on governments. What are your thoughts?

What are some of the key differences in cultures of success and cultures of failure?
I believe that the major difference is mindset but as Edward Long mentioned, depends how you define success? Success to one person may be about waking up in the morning and knowing that they are breathing and their hearts are beating but another person may see success as making a $1,000,000. I have recently been listening a lot of biographies, talks and interviews with people such as Mark Zuckerberg, Sir Richard Branson, Warren Buffet, Google's biography and one thing that seems common throughout is the extraordinary mindsets that these people and organisations have. The self belief, creativity, courage, contribution, commitment that seems a common theme throghout these people seems to be the foundation to all success (depending on your definition of this). I believe that all success begins from the inside out and I can happily provide the links etc. to these talks if you like Jon?

Why are YOU killing the planet?
I believe that ignorance is not bliss in these cases but I also believe that it may not be about guilt as much it is about acceptance. What I mean by that is - we are all born into the world and through our experiences and upbringings our values and beliefs are shaped and people often have what I call 'global' beliefs such as - life is....., I am......, people are......, which vary from individual to individual. I believe that these values and beliefs can allow people to accept things and often disregard other things. The beliefs and values of the children being born into the world today are being shaped and the influence of technology as an accepted way of life for a large number of the world's population is going to greatly influence those childrens beliefs about how life is, how people are etc and thus influence the decisions they will make in all areas of life

Is there a balance between vulnerability and taking control?
I think overall, how vulnerability effects our lives as a whole but maybe more specifically our own personal missions / careers. I agree that we do not need scientific evidence to prove the miracles and grace of daily life, from the trillions of cells in our body's to every heartbeat. Would you say that you have developed your own system of beliefs and values Scot or do you a follow a path of religion or spirituality or something else?

I have a wall in my room where I put up pictures of inspiring pictures which trigger the visions and dreams I have for my future, the old saying "a picture paints a thousands words". I am a dreamer to say the least, I think big and some of my visions include: building a worldwide brand 'Body by Destiny', having a house in California on the beach and a house in the UK so that I can experience the sunshine all year round :) How about you? Any dreams or visions?

Is there a balance between vulnerability and taking control?
Thanks Fritzie and Barry, some great metaphors there and I appreciate you sharing your own thoughts and feelings. I totally agree and I also believe that this all comes down to faith and trusting in something greater than ourselves, that we can follow our own hearts and gut instincts in the moments but also being flexible in our approach and allowing for some direction changes that life may bring. Do you both believe that we are all guided in this life and that by being vulnerable we allow that higher power to be expressed?
