Justin Price Posted about 2 years ago Andrew McAfee: What will future jobs look like? When Deutsche Bahn a private company, (like Amtrak or the plethora of companies which replaced British Rail) proposes to introduce 'almost silent' drones to monitor its property and identify vandals and graffiti taggers, it seems to me that the dystopian future we are encouraged to forget is in actuality the dystopian present. How long before some bright spark gets the notion to attach a gun to that drone and call it, I dunno, Schutzadler or something similarly nostalgic? Oh, and why is the State Department over there, so keen to clean up the image of the drone killings in Pakistan? I think the answer is probably that the truth is far more repulsive and terrifying than one can possibly contemplate. They may not be able to fix the economy or a bust pipe or replace a fridge, but I bet you a quid they'd make first class judges, gaolers and executioners.
