I'm Spanish with British origins. I'm a multidisciplinary person, have two college degrees in Geology and Music, and I have also worked as a system analyst and Web designer. I have worked for several multinational companies and also run my own businesses, as I do today as a freelance. I'm bilingual in Spanish and English and have been teaching English for 30 years. I think that Ted is a great Internet Web site that has proved to be extremely useful for my English classes, and I have always thoroughly recommended it. It's a pleasure and an honour to be part of this community, and have the opportunity of sharing my ideas with anybody worldwide.
Phonetic assimilation is a natural and automatic process that makes a listener to convert a foreign language speech into his/her mother-tongue language, intercepting the comprehension abilities of the student, who doesn't understand what's going wrong and produces a great frustation. Unserstanding how this process takes place can greatly help language teachers to improve their students skills. I have been explaining this issue for several years now, and all my students have found it not only interesting but very useful, and greatly help them to understand where the difficulties that studying a foreign language can be, and provide them with a tool to ease language learning and encourage them to keep on learning languages.
