My TED story

I founded TEDxEast in collaboration with a wonderful committee and community. TEDxEast was the first TEDx event in NYC and has shifted from large events to smaller, tightly-curated dinner parties. As our community grows, we seek to offer our local community a TED-like experience in NYC. To do so we draw on the resources of NYC and highlight talent from NYC and beyond. Thanks to our partnerships with the History Channel. We organize events and ways to connect the community as much as possible in meaningful ways.

Should anyone be able to upload their TEDTalk to TED.com?
I think a big part of curation is knowing what to leave OUT. Having done a small amount of speaker selection for my TEDx event- I cannot tell you how many pitches I get to sell and to self-promote. Ick. I think a big part of the TED love I feel is rooted in the trust of the curation...

Test Schools, Not Children
Gever- love this idea. Actually, how about we let the kids offer assessments of the schools and teachers as it relates to engagement, learning and mastery. Students know what they are interested in, when they have been supported to engage and discover their own interests.
