Daniel Kahneman: The riddle of experience vs. memory
Happiness is a good catch all term for what it describes in my opinion, what he is saying is wetness is no longer an effective term for being wet, really? If you consider your status quo to be not wet then any amount of additional water could be termed level of wetness, I also do not agree that happiness needs to involve money, on this colonial way of thinking anyone living under a barter system is not happy? Really, these people never knew happiness until it was shown how you can purchase it with some form of monitory exchange?

Daniel Kahneman: The riddle of experience vs. memory
A: all and none of the above, as I said it depends what you are looking for, if your definition of happiness is any time you feel sad then can you turn it to joy the answer is 4. Its a way of life, to live in the positive. Are you looking for joy or justifications? We come back to my happiness is in or out of your heart topic, happy is place another dimention if you like where things are possible even probable given the right conditions, happiness is a choice, no matter what you are dying of, does this help?

Daniel Kahneman: The riddle of experience vs. memory
The persuit of happiness, happiness is a voyage not a destination, and to reply to your other statement, the biological formula for bonheur depends on the individual, well I suppose it is a a question of what shade of happiness you are searching for, instant bliss, lifelong satisfaction, moments of joy or excaliber? But if you are not looking for happiness then we will never find it, the first thing I did that helped me find it was to change my question, I stopped looking for happiness and tried to answer your very question, what is happiness, does this help? After I had an idea of what it is then I could try to locate it, I suppose that looking for happiness is the same as looking for pain once you have identified it you can find it everywhere, just keep turning over rocks until you find one you like sources of happiness that is!
