John McWhorter: Txtng is killing language. JK!!!
"Language and influencing who we are, what we think and what we value". Help me to understand what you mean by this. I interpret it as: Another way to create a beautiful wall and distance between we and they. Language then also segregates. "analyzing the nuances ... etc". Too academic and probably nice as a subject for a thesis.

John McWhorter: Txtng is killing language. JK!!!
Is it important if texting is good or bad for language? Language evolves, it's not something static. It changes each and every day. It just happens. And texting WILL influence language, so what? As John McWhorter said people over the ages, back to 63 A.D. worried about language and how it changes. It's unavoidable. The spelling of English or any other language today is not the same as it was 2 centuries back. English turned into American, was that bad? I live in the Netherlands and we are taught British English, so I spell colour instead of color, and centre instead of center. Does it really matter? And yes, parts of texting-language WILL end up in the official spelling gradually. As said: it's unavoidable, and not important, really...
