About Me

Asperger/verbal/Aphasia In 1982 I was a freshman at UWMilwaukee, not sure what career to take between psychology or writing. That winter I had a head injury and lost my ability to speak. It took years just to get back one-tenth of my previous ability. Just a strange, somewhat frustating situation. While I can read and comprehend at a doctorate level, can only speak as a seventh or eighth grader. So, hard to get a career when I can't speak the language. Am single. Have dated a number of times but, I like to talk about conspiracys, the government, philosophy. Can be hard to listen to my round-about explanations/theories when I often can't think of the correct word. Still, is nice to read. If it is nice out can take the telescope and see some of my favorites, M13, M31 and Orions nebula

More About Me

I'm passionate about

Mankinds future

An idea worth spreading

What crossed my mind during the three years when I was doing cross-country deliveries, while listening to Stephen King and Isaac Asimov and such was this. Our time on this planet is limited. Amoung other things we cannot stop a volcano from blocking out the sun. Man has evolved from a chimp. Man is using less than thirty percent of his brain so most likely we have not yet finished our evolution. The theory. We are just one seed of billions that have been planted across this Universe by us. That is assuming there have been other universes before this one. If we survive, we will eventually leave this planet and leave our Galaxy. In the end we would meet others who have done the same and find out if there are any seeds or if this just recycles it's self. We might find out that the end is just the beginning.

A comment on Conversation: How much of a right do students have to questioning and independent thinking?

Jan 26 2013: Well, as you have read and should understand by now, question everything! To many, this is too much. To truly question means you will have to dig, to go to more than one source. Read between the lines. I don't know what I don't know = people making statements on subjects they know nothing about: but I saw it on fox news, msnbc, tv, it was on the internet...Students need to make a habit of questioning, if you just accept what you hear/read you may not know the truth. The other has been answered, How the school rates in the state is all that matters. Some teachers will go out of their way, give you more then just what you need for the test. But it is also true that some questions of religion or abortion can't be answered
  • A comment on Conversation: Provocatively: Who should be allowed to survive?

Jan 26 2013: Just thinking about this Mathias, a man from your area, back in the 1600's I believe once quoted (roughly) A man can not govern the world who can not govern his country, a man can not govern his country, who can not govern his state...A man can not govern his city, who can not govern his home. I believe his initials were FG, but could be wrong. Anyways, I extended that past the world to include the solar system, our neighboring stars, the Galaxy and then the Universe. So what does this have to do with the seperated and fair? Well, we may need a different species to be able to govern the world as one. Have you ever wondered why we only use less than thirty percent of out brains? We need the next species to move forward. And I know, people hate change like automobiles, computers and airplanes. Over time, yes, Homo Sapiens will be wiped out but with 7 billion people that will take hundereds if not thousands of years.

A reply on Talk: Juan Enriquez: The next species of human

Jan 26 2013: Jeff, IMO global warming is the least of a problam since we still have Canada and Siberia. We were also suppose to worry about the Mosquito flu, Bird flu, Chicken flu and more that were going to wipe us out. On the other hand, keeping all of our eggs in one basket(Earth) is taking a risk. The world has changed quite a bit in the last 100 years, I believe Juan is trying to point out that man may also be changing for the better.

A reply on Talk: Juan Enriquez: The next species of human

Jan 25 2013: John Kennedy was popular, well known. What happened to him? Do you think if a new MLK or Gandhi showed up they would be allowed to speak as they wish? As far as the evolution, it is just natural. Our species has already evolved 17 times, the information coming in is overwhelming so we need to adapt, we need to evolve. The next species will be able to absorb this information and solve the energy/financial problems. The next problem, don't put all your egg's in one basket and what is Earth? We only have a limited time here as do all planet's so the next step will be space. Citizens are already going into outerspace, in 20 years it will be a regular vacation package. What we need know is more teachers. Specifically three teachers for every class, one who teaches in verbal, one who teaches in pattern and one who teaches visually. With three teachers it shows the students about working together and while some students might understand a story that they read, others may need to see it in pictures or a movie.

A reply on Talk: Larry Smith: Why you will fail to have a great career

Jan 25 2013: At the age of 48, I have found I like to golf, go bowling, fishing, wildlife photography and astronomy. When I tried to get better at fishing, I did it day after day until I started to hate fishing. I can't afford to go golfing every day so I tried to just practice more and the more I practiced, the more I hated it. I can't say in a career because I lost my ability to speak at the age of 18(aphasia) so I never decided between psychology or writing. I can say that I breezed through math in HS so does that mean everyone can do it? There are 11,000 scientists in New Mexico and I am sure a number of them have put in more effort than Einstein but still, never heard of them. On the other hand, Nike is right, Just Do It! When you find out there is a reason you needed a degree to get the job, find out the importance of that position, it is not as boring. After a few years you will understand more of what you are looking for but without experience, just guessing. Hope this is helpful
