I was a research chemist with ICI. I moved into organisation development with ICI in 1974.
I became a self-employed development consultant in 1982 and have extensive experience as a counsellor and coach. I work with individuals, teams, relationships between teams, and organisations in the private and public sector. I like helping senior people think about challenging issues about people and change.
My favourite tools are appreciative inquiry and re-evaluation counselling
There is more about my work and me on my website www.nickheap.co.uk. This also has many free articles, designs, resources and ideas.
I am 70, married with two grown-up children and two grandchildren and live in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.
Encouraging and enabling people to listen to each other. This is the crucial thing we need to do to solve the problems we have. This is across all generations, races, cultures, countries and classes.
We are all unique and have a unique and valuable central talent and purpose. I've been working on and off for forty years with a quick and simple way for people to discover theirs. You look back at the times of your life when you have been most fulfilled and tell some stories about what happened and what you did. This leads you to just two words that you are so excited about that you remember them for ever and can use to guide future decisions and action. The phrase is your "Core Process". They are all lovely and intriguing as we all are. Wouldn't you like to meet "Touching Souls", "Breathing Life" or "Detonating Mixtures"? Mine is "Creating Awareness". There is more here http://www.nickheap.co.uk/articles_by_cat.asp?ART_CAT_ID=43 (I was given this by Chris Bull, who died ten years ago). I am keen to spread it. It is helpful to individuals to have a sense of unique purpose and value. If more people knew of it, we might know this of each other and treat each other more respectfully.
