Eric Lewis: Chaos and harmony on piano
As a lay listener to music but with some experience in my own field i can use comparatively, i find it hard to express myself on this piece. I have only listened to it once (so far) and then i read a hundred or so comments about it. I found myself agreeing with some of them, like Jacob Hutchinson. Dan Barry, Scott Maddox and a few more i can't find in a quick scan back. Oh and of course the sensibility of Peter Sloan. One commenter mentioned how the first few minutes were hard for him and i found the same. Perhaps i hadn't tuned in i thought. Subsequent listenings will show either way. Once i 'was' tuned in i was swept along beautifully, which is all i ever really hope for from art. I did find myself becoming troubled by some of the chaos and then finding comfort when he allowed some order to reappear. I'm not sure how techinically brilliant he is, however, he is clearly brilliant enough to convey his message, or at least what i think he was trying to say :)

Peter Singer: The why and how of effective altruism
I'm not sure of Peter's actual point, but he lost me when he started referring to Gates and Buffett as humanitarians. If he cannot see through the illusion, then i can't trust his analysis of anything else. Of course the shock effort at the beginning didn't help his cause.

Katherine Kuchenbecker: The technology of touch
It sounds like the potential applications could be very widespread. From my own particular perspective this could help anything related to the physical. It could assist all the way from returning people to normal capacity after a life changing accident or illness all the way through to assisting elite sportspeople to fine tune their skills, much alike the surgeon you mentioned. My own interest spread from working with the former to working with the latter, so already you have the elite sports coach and the physical healer class of people who would be directly interested. It seems like a logical extension of a simple biofeedback machine. It's quite brilliant. Yet i always worry when new technologies appear that can revolutionise. For while technology is neutral, is becomes positive or negative depending on the human using it. It is not the obvious negative uses that are really of concern because they tend to stand out. It is the hidden negative and to be specific, it is the gradual erosion of human physical function through reliance on externally controlling ones environment. For each time we develop an invention to make something easier for ourselves to do, we gradually lose our capacity to do what we did before. This is only ever going to continue as we automate virtually everything in due course, and leads to one of my most pressing questions, how do keep our physical life-fitness up to speed in such circumstances. Specifically to the topic at hand this could involve using technology as yours to return human functioning and human sense perception to its ideal, yet incorrectly applied it could continue the current approach of gradually reducing those sense perceptions through the ever increasing reliance on what could be called artificial senses.

Is the media intentionally creating large scale debate to trick Americans into giving Government more control?
Please don't forget that the US Constitution was developed by people rebelling against the British hegemonic rule. The constitution is set up to prevent such rule from being able to take control again. Yet it has happened, the US government is now acting identical to the British marauders. Luckily the constitution is there ready for this eventuality. There can be NO amendment to it's fundamental rights giving, for those provisions are there to make sure a government can never take away those rights we deserve as members of Humanity.
