More About Me

I'm passionate about

I am passionate about an Educational Initiative I am launching to teach medical & mental health communities that Anxiety dis-orders are correctable.

An idea worth spreading

An Educational Initiative of the treatment of Anxiety Dis-orders is to educate, update and teach those in health care and mental health care that there are drug-free options beside psychotropic medications, antidepressants and others in these categories, which are often addictive such as Benzodiazepine, and if anything, they ought to be used as a bridge. They merely deal with the symptoms, not the core issues.

Medicine and approaches to healthcare have been stream-lining more and more, we send people to specialists who are experienced and practiced in specific disciplines. This is what this endeavor is about, getting patients and clients to a qualified specialist in anxiety disorders.

117.M people in America suffer with Anxiety disorder, and currently the medical & mental health establishment believes only medications, many of them addictive is the cure. It is NOT, they are merely be a bridge to amend, to calm the horrid symptoms.

Talk to me about

I am interested in other methodologies that eradicate Anxiety dis-orders to include besides CBT & Hypnosis.

People don't know that I'm good at

Creating and designing potent word search puzzles guise as a game, but really helps shift perception and anchor empowering content within the subconscious.

My TED Story

I have followed TED for some years now, and when I come across a really good lecture, it is nearly always a TED presenter. I believe I have found a port, and anchor with some impassioned, learned and amazing beings with I think the same large altruistic streak that runs through myself.

Jan 17 2013: If this were true Robert, I wouldn't have launched the initiative. I have stated everything in the write up of the initiative, pretty straight forward and to the point, perhaps you would like to review it.
I look forward to chatting afterwards. Warmest regards, and thank you for your statistics, Kate

Jan 15 2013: Not familiar with blogs Fritzie, but from the tone of your note, my responses are too long.
Yes, admittedly I added an outline as to the nature of anxiety/panic issues, and a approach to the correction of the dis-order.

I appreciate your insight and suggestions. I shall take them into consideration.
As what you say tends to be true in many instances, those whom deal with these issues proverbial ears may as well perk up, and we can move into a deeper, insightful and educative conversation.

I believe in one of the earlier threads I mentioned my intention of the Educational Initiative, which is people being correctly diagnosed and thus referred to clinicians/disciplines which specialize in treatment/correction of anxiety.

People spend years of their lives attempting to gain help, proper treatment. They become entrenched in a system quite often that does not understand anxiety dis-orders and can spend those years being medicated without successful abatement of the horrific, often disabling symptoms. And this is also my main contention and assertion that meds merely mask, not correct anxiety, intensifying an otherwise simple dis-order to correct.
    Warmest regards, Kate

    Jan 14 2013: 6) Correction & Treatment:
To restore previous 'wiring' or creating the most effective methodology is a two pronged approach, Cognitive behavioral training and Hypnotherapy.

Cognitive training involves learning how your brain and mind functions, knowing you are Safe, in Control and practicing shifting your Thoughts into the Present. This is achieved through controlled breathing techniques, relaxation of *key muscles, sipping room temperature water, to leach the adrenaline out of your system, using a Mint product, such as tea or breath mint and giving yourself messages that all is well. It is foremost your incorrect Thinking that recreates the anxiety or panic.

Hypnotherapy works by accessing the subconscious mind, where the habit pattern is entrenched and re-wired. Your subconscious is that portion of your mind that allows one to effortlessly and smoothly respond to the world. For example: When getting into your vehicle, you do not need to Remember how to drive the car, you simply place the key in the ignition and drive. After driving for a while you habituate yourself to the correct gear to engage, peddle to press, maintaining observance of rear-view and side-view mirrors, sense of space (of vehicle), obeying traffic laws, etc.

Hypnosis, which is simply the shifting of perception or focus, through the process of relaxing the body & focusing the mind, when your body is relaxed both your conscious and subconscious levels of mind activity are more receptive to suggestions & directions and easily gets to the core or root issue of (faulty) anxiety (wiring) and is able to construct the new neuronal pathway often in a singular session. With repeated sessions, usually two additional the re-wiring is complete. With both new skill sets with cognitive training and hypnosis the dis-order is corrected. This is accomplished within three weeks for nearly everyone.

Jan 14 2013: In our modern times, when say you are threatened by a boss and the loss of your job, these instinctual reactions are not an effective or productive reaction. This may affect a response of being chronically late or leaving early. Taking more sick days, having a headache, body aches, stomach issues or sleep issues, procrastination, depression and anxiety or panic.

    5) Reaction ~ Response
A Reaction is an automatic, often instinctual or habitual method of coping.
A Response is a thought process and takes consideration, assessment and application.
When your 'wiring' becomes crossed or 'kinked' one needs to be mindful or responsive when anxiety or panic occurs. This involves being Present, in the Now. Anxiety comes from projective thoughts in the Future; fear of not being able to perform, embarrassing oneself, humiliation, rejection, losing control.

When one has reacted several times with anxiety or panic, the strong emotional and physiological symptoms create a secondary neuronal pathway in the brain, this essentially is a groove or habit pattern (wiring) that become ingrained or a new reaction to the circumstances or situations that invoke Fear.

Jan 14 2013: 3) Cycles of Anxiety & Panic disorder:
A; Most everyone will in the least have an anxiety or panic attack in their life time. Often it is situational, such as public speaking, or dealing with the loss of a loved one through either death, desertion, divorce.

B; Other people will have panic attacks over a period of time in dealing with highly stressful circumstances, and then subsides for years.

C: You experience a panic attack, and become overly sensitized to the fear of having another one. You begin to avoid situations that may cause an attack. As you become less and less confident of your abilities to cope, your world becomes smaller and smaller as avoidance becomes a way of life and behavior, further eroding your self confidence. You may have a panic attack while taking an aspirin for a headache, you then associate your panic and that medicine, or any medicine that may alter how you feel.

    4) Control of Anxiety & Panic Attacks:
(Many people discover that after a glass of wine or beer they feel calmer and begin using alcohol as a means to control feelings. You are prescribed a prescription for pain and discover you feel better, calmer. You find that when you eat, that the full feeling relieves an inner stress. This now creates secondary issues. )

Take into consideration that anxiety is a frame of mind. By gathering your thoughts, and shifting focus, this will immediately relive anxiety. Anxiety is often projections or thinking about the future and feeling a lack of control within or over situations or circumstances.

Anxiety/Panic is created by your Fight or Flight Response, 200,000 years in the making during human evolution. It is a protective instinct in which if you are mortally threatened, your brain automatically, without your thinking about it reacts by releasing adrenaline into your system providing the energy of either fighting/protecting yourself or fleeing/running far away from the threat. Your brain is wired to survive. Continued...

Jan 14 2013: What is Anxiety & Panic Attacks:

    0) Symptoms:
Racing thoughts, racing heart, sweating of hands, feet, overly sensitive to sound, dry mouth, upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, feeling like you are having a heart attack, feeling as though you are dying, feeling like you are going to pass out, feeling as though you are going to lose control and act inappropriate...embarrassing yourself, migraine headaches, chronic pain even thought there is no injury, feeling like you want to run away, feeling like you need to hide.

    1) Roots of Anxiety & Panic Attacks:
A; General anxiety is often created and fostered in childhood. Being told by a parent or authority figure (someone we look up to, admire, love, respect) that you are not good enough... either through word or by not validating/supporting your efforts, an absent parent) We have a deep sense of being inadequate. You fear the future, as something out of your control.

B: There are two main expressions of a panic attack; 1) Situational; Being put on the spot, such as having to speak in public.
    2) A Trauma occurred 2 - 2 1/2 years ago, and out of the blue you experience a panic attack during the most mundane, routine task, such as being at the grocery store shopping.
    2) Causes of Anxiety & Panic Attacks:

A; Anxiety disorders tend to run in families. They are expressed in a variety of ways, some may have a panic disorder or some call it a nervous disorder. Many people self medicate through alcohol, street or prescription drugs, body dysmorphia, anorexia/bulimia, weight issues/emotional eating. Other family members may have phobia's, such as a paralyzing aversion to heights, enclosed places, crowds, animals.

B; Panic: A trauma occurred 2 - 2 1/2 years ago, and out of the blue you experience a panic attack during the most mundane, routine task, such as being at the grocery store shopping.

Jan 14 2013: For some reason, besides not being able to upload my photo, I cannot see a message left by Carolyn, concerning the pharmacological interests. So I shall reply to the little bit I had seen.

I am not concerned by the pharmaceutical industry. There is enough room for everyone. I have great respect for many medications, even though things are going to extremes as far as side effects go. My avocation is that when a patient presents with anxiety dis-order, if the physician or mental health worker is not familiar with how to deal with it and help the patient release the symptoms, medication can help with the referral to a specialist.

This is one of my biggest grips, that often meds are prescribed and that is it. Until I realized that doctors and mental health workers are ignorant, uneducated that there is actually disciplines available to correct the dis-order. Hence, this launch of the Educational Initiative on the treatment and correction of anxiety dis-orders.

Anxiety is Fear based, often projections into the future, feeling out of control, a real sense of powerlessness.

Jan 14 2013: When you utilize cognitive techniques with hypnotherapy, it corrects the dis-order, and no medications are necessary, I spend more time helping clients detox from meds than the actual correction of the anxiety dis-order Lawren. I am in contact with my very first anxiety I worked with over 20 years ago, and she is still anxiety attack free.

Think of it like breaking ones' leg, you go to an orthopedic, they set the bone, and once the body does it's natural healing work, the bone is fixed. You do not need to baby it or worry about fracturing it again. It is fixed. Just like anxiety, once it is corrected, you're done with it forever.

Jan 14 2013: Lawren, as a clinical counseling hypnotherapist, I have specialized in anxiety disorders for over 20 years and have helped people correct the dis-order. I hyphenate "disorder" because it is an issue of incorrect thinking that initiate the fight/flight response. By using cognitive therapy techniques and hypnotherapy it effectively corrects it.

I do have an agenda, the eradication of anxiety and panic attacks. To educate people such as yourself who may have undergone a slew of treatments from medicines to perhaps psychotherapy with little results. Lawren, if you have a heart condition, you will not seek out a podiatrist, you would seek the consult and expertise of a cardiologist. Same situation here. With anxiety issues, you would seek out a specialist in this area, such as myself.

I suggest you educate yourself on CBT & hypnotherapy, and reclaim your life back. The chemical imbalance you speak of is the adrenaline release and subsequent fear of the symptoms in an ugly cycle that occurs is the true imbalance. With proper consult training and correct at the subconscious level one can not only receive relief, but complete control.

The hypnosis attribute goes into the subconscious where the core or root issue exists. All of your habitual behavior is at the subconscious level, such as driving. When you get into your vehicle, you d not have to remember how to drive, you simply stick the key into the ignition and go about your way. The subconscious is that portion of the mind that allows us to smoothly operate in the world. When one has repeated anxiety attacks, in becomes for intents and purposes a habitual response of fear.

I hope this broadens your understanding and the threshold of gaining your life back now that you know what specific approach to correct your anxiety. Best regards, Kate
