Jan 31 2013: Natalie Merchant was authentic to herself and her performance. Instead of "whipping the audience into frenzy", she asked for true appreciation by calming down the audience. When an artist could reject the enthusiasm and lead the audience to a deeper place, he/she has something to enlighten us about our ways of relating to art.
