About Me

I am Thais, eighteen years old. I was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Raised there as well, I moved to the United States at the age of twelve. Ever since I was little, I was into science. specifically cosmology and astrophysics. Stars and planets facinate me, and have always facinated me. Star Trek has always been a favorite of mine, and I have always believed that one day we will come to emulate what is portrayed in Star Trek. No matter how impossible someone may think SciFi movies and series may be, who said they really are impossible? If there is one thing I wish to accomplish, it is to empower my children and my peers to help carry through my dream to explore the far stretches of the Galaxy.

More About Me

I'm passionate about

Space Travel.

An idea worth spreading

I would like to spread the idea of empowering the globe to look past differences, and for everyone to get together to pursue space travel. Space travel is the key to our future, and no matter how long the planet has been around, it will not be around forever. Empowering everyone on the globe to dedicate time studying cosmology and space travel will make the world a whole lot better.

A reply on Conversation: Should people who are not Christian celebrate Christmas?

Dec 28 2012: I celebrate Christmas by going to a church ceremony on Christmas Eve, and having a Dinner after followed by the opening of presents.
The rituals may be gone for some, but in my culture specifically it is not, I am Brazilian, and Christmas is sacred to us. We observe it not as a day of gift giving and food/drink, but as a holiday of religious significance, the holy birth of Jesus Christ.

Dec 27 2012: No, I do not believe people who are not Christians should celebrate Christmas. I am Catholic, and the significance of Christmas is not gift giving, bright lights, or Santa Claus, it is the Birth of Jesus Christ. I feel the same way Muslims would feel if non-Muslims were celebrating Ramadan, or how Jewish people would feel if non-Jewish people celebrated Rosh Hashanah or Hanukkah. Christmas is a Christian holiday, and I believe it should stay that way.

A comment on Conversation: Has the time come for the U.S Second Amendment to be repealed or amended?

Dec 27 2012: After the events of the past decade, and most recently in my neighbor state Connecticut, it shows that fire arms should be banned if not limited. I believe that the only people who should be allowed to bear fire arms are people who have a job of protecting the populous, police, army, etc. People use guns for sport and self-defense, and I applaud those people for using fire arms responsibly, however we have to try to prevent those fire arms from being used irresponsibly. One thing that should be stopped immediately is individuals selling guns privately.
