Perhaps we are not looking in the right way
Hi Lejan, could you explain to me: "Well, the source of any signal is not diffuse in a three-dimensional space, and its 'volume' no protection against possible 'hostile' species..." Do you mean that any signal could be traced in three-d space? But can you think of a way that other life forms could compose a signal in such way that its location is not revealed and you just need more sources to detect it. Is that possible when they would use encoded Neutrino's?

agree, we are a hostile species yet we are also capable of doing so much good. So perhaps indeed we need to grow as species to a higher level before we are being contacted. So perhaps no signals from other life forms are out there because they do not want us to see? But are we then such a threat for them. As humans we are currently just about to go to Mars. Not really deep space exploration.. What would the impact be if we knew that we're not alone? Wouldn't that steer mankind into more good you think. Wouldn't it boost our spirits to a higher level?

I agree that our world is not very sane and perhaps even hostile (see next replier). However, I think the question:: "are we alone?" could still be a universal one. I am just considering the possiblity that the more altruistic life forms are wiling to send an alife signal. So no communication really, just a signal to let other lower life forms no they are not alone whenever they raise that question
