Nov 26 2012: ...and then you have metaphors. In order to help another person to think in a more positive frame, then you can tell them a story about someone in a similar situation to theirs where that person got a great outcome. The story that you tell them may or may not be true but the intention that you have in making the story up is completely honourable.
Honesty is one of my top values and I have to say that even if someone was using a metaphor in order to help me, if I found out that they had made the story up, I would not be particularly grateful.
