About Me

I'm Rachel! I grew up in a small town in central Pennsylvania and currently attend Penn State University. I study International Politics as well as Human Development & Family Studies. In addition to graduating in the spring, I'll begin my post-graduate life abroad in Ghana working at an orphanage to fund raise, develop awareness, and coordinate community outreach for the children at the orphanage to develop marketable skill sets to help provide income in their post-orphanage lives. At university, I started an organization called EmpowerU and creating this program helped orient me toward leading a life of empowering others. I am excited to join the online TED community after being on the organizer team at TEDxPSU (tedxpsu.com) and after participating and volunteering at a number of TEDx events around the United States.

More About Me

I'm passionate about

Empowering youth and seeing potential & power in everyone, everywhere.

An idea worth spreading

Let's give children around the world a platform to share their stories. By bringing TEDxYouth to areas like Sub-Saharan Africa where the lives, experiences, and knowledge of children are so vastly different from the Western world where TEDxYouth predominates, we can empower children to empower other children in being change agents of the world. Let's use the TEDxYouth platform to ignite a passion for our youth to learn from each other.

Talk to me about

Empowerment, social enterprise consulting, living passionately

People don't know that I'm good at

Playing the violin, pen flipping, singing in the shower, foosball.

My TED Story

Being passionate about helping others share their story is why I am so involved and inspired by the TED platform. I'm involved on the organizer board for TEDxPSU (at Penn State) and have volunteered/participated at a number of TED events around the United States. This summer in Ghana, I hope to participate in TEDxAccra as well as organize a TEDxYouth@Ghana event. My passion is empowering youth to share their stories and this is why I love TED!
