More About Me

I'm passionate about

reducing noise pollution

An idea worth spreading

well, I live on milk. Every day I drink between one and two gallons of milk, and I don't eat or drink anything else. I've been doing this for about five years. I find it's a good way to keep my weight down, and I generally feel better than on any other diet I've tried.

Talk to me about

reducing noise pollution, or anything else

People don't know that I'm good at

people pretty much know what I'm good at

My TED Story

I can't remember for sure, I believe I found TED by entering the subject search "green talks" in Google. I was quite thrilled as I further looked at the website, as it seemed to offer a chance to publish both out-of-the-box ideas and more conventional ideas, and get a reaction to them. And react to other people's.

  • A comment on Conversation: When fighting for rights, which is tougher: a battle against an oppressive government, or a battle against an oppressive society?

22 hours ago: it's a little hard for me to imagine that you could have an oppressive society, but not an oppressive government. Can you explain how this can be?
  • A reply on Conversation: Are the prostets really going somewhere?

22 hours ago: well, a problem with little governance is you might clash more with your neighbors, as you will be doing what you want, and they will be doing what they want, and if you are different perhaps there will be friction
  • A comment on Conversation: What to do to become a scientist?

22 hours ago: Well, have you studied chemistry before? If not, you have to take some basic chemistry course.

What sort of job do you eventually want to have in chemistry?

Would it be okay with your parents if you changed to chemistry? Chemistry sounds like a good field of study, it should be as good as btech mechanical or EEE, shouldn't it, in terms of getting a job?
  • A comment on Conversation: Why love hurts a lot when it ends, and why one gives everything for nothing?. if I have mistakes in my written so sorry I am learning English

22 hours ago: I wonder if in any relationship one person loves more than the other? Logically you would think so.
  • A comment on Conversation: Does employment = Good for society?

22 hours ago: I would say that before any legal job is undertaken, a great deal of checking and rechecking is undertaken. For example, before a factory produces bombs, a great deal of thought is given, legislators decide how much money to devote to defense, researchers research how much defense is necessary, the people get to vote and presumably vote intelligently, and so on. So a legal job is a good job. If it turns out to be a bad job, the next year they adjust the budget, and perhaps those people are out of a job.

Illegal jobs are illegal because they are destructive, bad for everybody. Such as narcotics, or human trafficking.
  • A reply on Conversation: how to invest in yourself?

22 hours ago: Yes, cooking skills are good for anybody to have, and also learning about cooking and food can lead to other kinds of learning, such as learning about agriculture, marketing, and other subjects. How do you use milk and eggs when you cook breakfast? What is zongzi?

So you taught yourself English? How did you do it? Well, I'm glad we get to talk to you on TED, would we be able to if you didn't speak English? But is it a lot of work to learn, if it's a lot of work I hope you are getting some rewards for it, or maybe just talking on TED is enough reward? Yes, I guess spoken language is the most important.
  • A reply on Conversation: The weight that football has in our world today

22 hours ago: Well, Antonio, the problem is I don't know how hard of work it is to be a professional athlete, do you? How much effort does it take, how many hours per week do you practice, how strenuous are the practices? I think I may ask about it, if I get the answer I'll get back to you. Or if you ask around, let me know. We also have to figure that athletes are much more vulnerable to injury, so that is part of why they are paid well. Well, I don't know about soccer, do soccer players get a lot of injuries? Also, pro athletes have to move when they get traded, I think some of the money is compensating them for the stress and difficulty of having to move. Also, a pro athlete is always representing his team, even when he's just walking around his neighborhood he has to make a good impression for his team, there is some stress in this, so that is part of why he is highly paid.
  • A reply on Conversation: The weight that football has in our world today

1 day ago: Well, I'm not an expert, Antonio. I believe entertainment is a very basic human need, that if we didn't have entertainment, you would see stress levels increase, more crime, and other problems. So the entertainment of football is valuable.

Do you consume some kind of entertainment? Is it movies, music, or what?
  • A reply on Conversation: how to invest in yourself?

1 day ago: Thanks, e. Cooking is good, perhaps you involve your daughter in your cooking, this would be a good chance to teach her, and to converse with her.

Why would you want to improve your spoken English, what use is there for it in China? Are you saying I could help you improve your spoken English, how?
  • A reply on Conversation: The weight that football has in our world today

1 day ago: well, your criticisms are rather complex, Jimmy, possibly beyond me. To me, it seems people need entertainment, that it is a legitimate need, not just "bread and circuses." Even the name of TED stands for Technology Entertainment Design. Do you yourself consume entertainment in some form, and what is it?
