In January, 2001, while serving as an officer in the Marine Corps, Matt Tenney was arrested for attempting a fraud against the US government. As a result, he ended up spending 5.5 years in confinement. At first, he thought his life was over. But a simple practice called mindfulness helped him transform his greatest failure into the best thing that ever happened to him. He learned how to be happy with nothing, lived as a monk for over 3 years, and discovered the joy of a life devoted to serving others. He later learned that mindfulness just may be the most powerful tool there is for achieving higher levels of professional success.
Matt is passionate about helping people use the practice of mindfulness to improve performance and profitability, realize greater happiness, and to live a deeply meaningful life that makes a positive impact on the world around us. He has years of intensive training in mindfulness and has been teaching the practice since 2002. Since 2006, he has gone on to have a successful career as a sales team leader, co-found and lead two non-profit organizations, and become a certified leadership development consultant with the prestigious Perth Leadership Institute. Matt is the author of From the Brig to the Boardroom: Why Mindfulness Is the Ultimate Shortcut to Success. His company donates all after-tax profits to charity, as well as all of the author proceeds from the sale of his book.
