  • A comment on Talk: John Wilbanks: Let’s pool our medical data

Oct 17 2012: We will now start to see more and more advances in heath due to information and technology being shared..
This is fantastic for those in the western world as longevity of life will extend for those that can afford it.. however what impact this has on society remains to be seen..

I overheard a person of authority predict that the population of the world will get to about 10 billion before collapsing back to about 2 billion..and his should happen in the next 50-75 years..

So there is much over the next 50+ years to be done and much that can be done, as well its going to be an exciting future for those in biotechnology and medicine!

  • A comment on Talk: Melissa Marshall: Talk nerdy to me

    Oct 16 2012: Hi Melissa,

Great communication, can stop wars, unify people, nurture a bruised ego, inspire, educate and express true gratitude.

The best communicators engage through participation and engagement, they allow a platform to ensure understanding occurs though self discovery rather than simply information download!

The best communicators keep it simple, succinct, and all about them!

  • A comment on Talk: Eddie Obeng: Smart failure for a fast-changing world

Oct 16 2012: My Avatar is Extraordinary. :-)

The www has allowed for the transfer of information and ideas as fast as the speed of light.

Actually as the speed of information is doubling every year, were you also aware that the price are halving.... Allowing us to interact globally as Eddie says from behind our desk, under the stairs.

Definitely we are heading global! and although we can connect from the comfort of behind our desk, my hope is that we take this opportunity and also use the portability of the web to more experience the physically world more and all its natural beauty, cultures, experiences and people. So that we (as global corporation leaders) all become more enlighten though our experiences and we each contribute in our own small part making the world a more informed, educated and better place, while still individually being connected and running our global organizations!

A comment on Talk: Tim Leberecht: 3 ways to (usefully) lose control of your brand

Oct 9 2012: Talk about loosing control of your brand... and by doing so it becoming a global phenomena

It still amazes me today that its only back in 1989 and out of frustration Timothy Berners Lee wrote a shareable code http:// and began to market it.. i.e. tell others right!

18 months later, from grass roots support it started to grow in popularity..to an essential part of our daily life today A.K.A. Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft etc.. today Sir Timothy is financially secure through his part in helping the capitalism and entrepreneurship of others..

Sir Timothy-Lee-Berners you are eXtraordinary. Thank you, this is the value of scientists in the world that often go overlooked and under-appreciated.

A comment on Talk: Rachel Botsman: The currency of the new economy is trust

    Oct 8 2012: Dear friend,
What is the on thing that changes everything?
Its common to every single individual, relationship, family, team, company, economy country and nation. The one thing that if removed will destroy the most powerful government, successful business, greatest friendship and the deepest love.
On the other hand if developed and leveraged, this is the one thing that has the potential to create unparallelled success and prosperity in every dimension life has to offer.
    This one this is trust..

A comment on Talk: Shimon Schocken: The self-organizing computer course

Oct 4 2012: These are not only great virtues of teachers, they are also found in a great business leaders, politicians and sports coaches .

Branson does it at Virgin , Larry and Sergey at Google do it, Steve Job's at Apple did it!

Rather than dictating and micro managing workers and staff.. empowering staff, creating an environment for them to thrive... ultimately creates a greater employee and employer it also gives the greatest chance of success for a greater company that will not only be more financially successful; it will have the foundations built for a deeper and more meaningful experience with all the company, its brand, staff consumers and potential consumers it interacts with.

    Shimon's perspective is spot on!

Educators do not necessarily have to teach.. the best educators provide an environment and the resources to tease out the natural ability of self study, discovery, learning and education on your own..

Self study, self exploration, self empowerment these are the virtues of a great education..

Well done for an inspiring talk!

  • A comment on Talk: Amy Cuddy: Your body language shapes who you are

Oct 3 2012: This is some really interesting thoughts and ideas about body language.. Body language is driven from our evolutionary ancestors.. fight or flight, belonging to a pack or not and status within a group, sex for procreation etc...
Because these are core to our evolution (before language between humans became the main way of communicating> then to reading)..they can be used to influence others perspective of the message you wish the recipient wants to receive from you.
The question is how long can you consciously monitor and stage manage your own body language.. to a point where it becomes a new habit? And is this new habit helping you or hindering you?
