Sep 27 2012: Everyone relates automation to labor, and yes, it is part of the picture. But it needs to be equated to efficiency. Labor reduction is a small part of the justification of a new machine, let's say, in a manufacturing environment. You have quality consistency, space reduction, and less downtime. You also still have the employment of programmers and operators. Point being, just because there is a reduction in labor does not mean it harms our economy. It puts our businesses in a better position to be competitve. Therefore, the business improves and grows creating economy.
Sep 27 2012: I would argue that capitalism and enlightenment are the opposite of distribution of wealth. Having the best idea and harnessing that idea for productivity is what capitalism is all about. Having the best product on the market and allowing others to compete against that product. Progression is a very important part of economy. Innovation in technology will open doors to new processes and inventions that we cannot fathom yet because we have not had the technology to do so. If you just let everyone share, then innovation becomes stale and we settle in a state of complacency.
