More About Me

I'm passionate about

Sustainability, climate change, preserving natural beauty and sharing it with others, investing in green technology and ideas, increasing awareness of current local, regional and global issues.

An idea worth spreading

We are living in a world now, where most people struggle to appreciate what they have and the world which they are apart of. These people are not necessarily choosing to be ignorant, but they are just not made aware of the urgency of the situation, even sometimes, they are just not made aware. So how do the authorities intend to make large scale changes in this world if 'The People' don't understand? How can they expect us to follow laws, legislation and regulations when most of us don't see the importance for them? To most, it may just look like another Tax to make our lives more economically frustrating than they already are. Recycling bins or box's just frustrate home owners, rather than seeing it as a way to better the recycling schemes of towns and cities and reduce waste. We say that the education of our children is a huge priority because they are the future, but unless we educate the people of here and now as well, there wont be a future. Act now. Educate. Be aware. - my idea

Talk to me about

Climate change, current media coverage on environmental issues, sustainability, public issues with global warming, ideas for green technology and industry, biodiversity, species richness

A comment on Talk: Heather Brooke: My battle to expose government corruption

Oct 19 2012: I certainly believe in this talk and the idea Ms. Brooke puts forward, but I can't help but feel a little skeptical about how this information will be used if it ended up in the wrong hands.
I'm not skeptical about the idea as such, I would certainly like to know whats going on behind the closed curtains of government, but to be honest, I am skeptical about certain media 'groups' and how they will present that information to the public. She describes the seduction of power, and wouldn't you say the media is rather powerful now in the 21st century? And wouldn't you say that looking into 'media's past' that certain areas of media have even been a bit manipulative when they have had their hands on certain bits of information? I can think of a few cases in the past when information has been published, not necessarily to benefit the public, but to benefit themselves through the gained profit.
Again, I believe in Ms. Brooke's idea, but i feel that there would need to be some slight control over how this information is used once it has been gained.
  • A comment on Talk: Simon Sinek: How great leaders inspire action

Oct 17 2012: I felt so inspired after watching this video! I am a person who aims as high as they can and dreams as big as they can, to the point that they may not be realistic or possible, but it has always been my belief that they may be possible that drives me.... After watching this, I realised and understood the meanings behind the feelings that I have always had and which drive me through the toughest times. I have always known that when I chose my job, it wont be because 'I can do it' and it won't be because of 'What they do', no... it will be because I have passion for the 'Idea' that they believe in, and for the reasons as to 'Why they do it' - Simon Sinek, you have inspired me, Thank you.

A reply on Conversation: Is fighting climate change a losing battle?

    Oct 1 2012: Hello Gale,

It may seem that we have become a generation of greed and selfishness. It is sad, but I do not believe that all hope is lost and that if we just worked harder on making people aware of the facts (and not scaremongering which most media seems to be good at), then I think it could change peoples perspectives. I am not talking about the in-depth scientific facts that would make the average man feel out of his depth, but the basic facts, that small changes can make a difference, and evidence of climate change that has already occurred. How can we expect the people to understand if they are not even educated on the matter? I think that if the media went about it more subtly than they have done in the past, people wont get as frustrated with it all.
As for the money side, yes this generation is all about making a profit, but that can be turned in our favor, where we can set up industries to generate and promote green technology.
I just feel that during this time, we need to be optimistic, otherwise we will just spiral into a void where we have just given up and no longer care.
  • A reply on Conversation: Is fighting climate change a losing battle?

Oct 1 2012: What you have just described is a clear example, that unless the majority of people work together on the changes necessary, then our efforts as an individual will struggle to make the difference. Unfortunately, I feel that only the minority of people try their hardest to reduce emissions and who are even really paying attention to the current climate issues. The threat of 'Global Warming' has been pushed onto the public for so many years now (most of which has mostly been scaremongering), that they have just given in listening.
