What is the Public perception on the role of the modern nurse?
I have had been unfortunate enough to require hospitalisation a few times in the last few years through unrelated instances. I have been fortunate enough to be cared for by the most diligent, mindful, empathetic and reassuring medical staff, but equally I have had experience of those for whom it seems they are not aware of the importance of basic care or empathy with regards to patients. The cause of this can be due to a whole number of different influences and combinations there of. The level at which an individual takes their role on, be it environmental (I am X because I need to be for a job/income) or all the way through to identity (I do X because it is an honest expression of my truest self) can potentially be a dramatic influence on the level of diligence given to the role. The level to which the ethos at the heart of any organisation is a true representation of the culture ie the values which those predominately that form that culture, are reflected in the ethos whole heartily. There is also a requirement that this ethos is clearly seen in the most simple of tasks. As soon as a level of task, which is in actuality contributing to the implementation of the ethos, is not seen as having a level of complexity as to be indicative of the higher value elements of the ethos, people can be dismissive of those tasks and what should be the foundation of a culture to achieve the ethos, can be view as not having relevance. It is the responsibility of everyone, especially those specifically charged with implementing the strategic level so fth ethos, to recognise the value of all tasks in their contribution. To what extent can an idea be unique?
If everything is infinite, time, space etc then anything could and indeed will exist, including floating brains that can live in space, that spontaneously come into existence (just as anything else may spontaneously come into existing when things get big and long enough) and given that this happens an infinite number of times, with their lifespan having infinite lengths of time, then they would outnumber all humans that ever exist and so their perspective of the universe if more pressing than ours.

Is humanity inherently good or evil?
The points where I would wish to focus are on the words "humanity" and inherently". I think that any really interesting question like this needs context. Are we taking into account all of humanity that lived or our current population? Is this a question regarding the sum total of humanity as a species, homo sapiens, or are there problems is addressing an ethical discussion without recognising the subjectively of not only culturally referenced notions of good and evil, but individuals? Whom is to decide what is good and what is evil to begin with? "Inherently" starts me thinking about genetics, encoding of behaviour, world views and the like. Is there a sense of conformity or self-awarnes/s here, are we taking responsibility for our actions? Which mechanisms are we going to explore that create a predisposition towards something? Are we predisposing that altruistic behaviour is ultimately good, for example? If we were to decide yes, then we are obligated to step out to the next layer of context. Choosing for example culture and environment, a small scale personal act of altruistic behaviour which might be casually ascribed as "good", could then become culturally and environmentally negative, so in which contexts are good and evil defined? I would say that humanity of inherently adaptable and the questions over the predominate ethical and moral landscaoe which we create changes over time and context. With Genuine Interest Paul

What does it mean to be globally aware and why is it important?
Global Awareness from me is the understanding of inter-relationships, independence, individual as well as communal responsibilities. I do believe there are two forms of GA, one from the inside out, the other from the outside in. The first is from the perspective of the subjectivity of one`s own baseline, that is to say, that what is true for one, is not true for all. This is where the understanding of cultural, economic, health , wellbeing, socio-political and worldview experiences change, but are the assumed baseline of those from within that paradigm. Once we are able to partially unattached ourselves from our own intrinsically development "sense" of the world, we are more readily capable, although desire to is required, to appreciate the differences in life experiences globally and form an opinion on that, slightly less subjectively that previously, but our moral framework`s influence to a large extent remaining so and informing this new, perhaps more inclusive worldview. The second, more subject-detatched view is that of a more existential global awareness. This worldview incorporate the notion of our common predicament, that of being an evolving species, alongside countless others, within an intricacy interwoven ecosystem, at one point in time, where our world is an inheritance of decisions from our ancestors and our decedents receive the same from ourselves. While able to achieve the outcomes in terms of the subjectivity of our baseline experiences, this second form of Global Awareness is based on a more objective perspective of our collective condition. Why is it OK for corporations to outsource work to countries that violate the corporation's home country labor laws?
We have to set up certain conditions to be able to answer the question. Given the relative economic expression of value, is the payment given in country A proportional to that of the payment that would be given in country B? That is to say, is an individual able to acquire the same standard of living within a comparable infrastructure, irrespective of numerical value. Assuming that the pay in Country B can enable at the very least clean, healthy standard of living , as an example., are both able to pay for the same living conditions, be able to have the same percentage of disposable income and pay a approximate equal percentage in tax. Other questions I think that come from this are; Although there is a compatible standard of living available to the employes, is this principally to take advantage of lower labour costs? Is this economically ethical? Given the distance resources subsequently need to be transported, is this environmentally ethical? Does this maintain/create change in the host economic climate? Is that beneficial in terms of long term prosperity and standard of living for the host country? With Genuine Interest Paul

Some further questions I find interesting; 1)What is the model of existence this is assumed to be in? Single Universe(since Big Bang), Multiverse?? 2)Is unique in the context of first, or having only ever existed at one point of time and perspective? 3)Do Boltzmann Brains make it impossible? For people who have a hard time answering the question: "Where are you from?"
I sometimes point to where I was a few seconds previous and smile. The way in which "where are you from?" is predominately interpreted has within it an assumption that is means geographically and by extension, I can perceive, if not actually understand, the cultural, social-political landscape that has informed a least a part of your life. It is very similar to the question "what do you do?", meaning your career, as this gives many a sense that they can ascribe qualities and indeed value, from what you do in terms of employment or lack there of. Other quips to challenge the conventional assumption as it relates to the question of "where are you from?" can include pointing to your head/heart (this is from where my sense of truest self resonates), say "my mother" to donate your biological place of "from", or indeed point up...we have all seen "The Most Astounding Fact." Why is art (or artistically creative fields) often not taken seriously?
I think the interest and validity given to discoveries both external and internal of ourselves is of undeterminably equal measure. I agree with Simon that there is less value given to intrinsically created expression that there is to extrinsically contextualised discoveries, that is to say, expression of the self is regarded and less discoverable and by extension a consistent framework we can knowingly connect on. There is always, perhaps a defining characteristic of art, currently no definitive reference we can use, expression is taking the blurring elements of our conscious and un-concious abstract constructs and wishing to pass some degree, through some medium, to another to interpret and to be able to gain reference of that expression through their own internal dialogue with those same aspects. Until we understand more of the neurological-psychological-conciousness interplays, plus greater aspects of the sociological influences on these, then perhaps they will always be regarded in a number of sense as less valuable as they are less definable and repeatable. I am fascinated in the cause and effect relationship between experience and expression, however the mechanics which manifest the expression may remain a mystery for a while just yet. Are we making ourselves redundant?
I have been interested in the progress of our technology and I am still searching for the link to where it extents the causal link of (simplified) physics-chemistry-biology-physicalogy-neurology-psychology-(creativity??). Is this psychology, our conscious self creating something that is found to have the ability to potentially extend our meaning beyond the biological-physiological-neurological framework. How does this differ from art as an extension of the self? Is this difference the fundamental aspect of having (possibly) a continued/continuos self awareness in some form, albeit the existence of thought and expression is no more substantially enhanced beyond what we can do currently? Is it from a subjective perspective this has value, or is there a greater value is that thought and expression can continue to evolve and has a greater wisdom (the timely application of understanding) because of it? What is the bond that holds a community together? If woven properly, how can this common bond positively change the world?
This is something I have been mulling over for a good while and I can not say I am closer to something I feel in an answer, but rather thoughts that seem to be slowly becoming structured into something holistic. Some of the thoughts that interest me most currently are around embedded and assumed values and parallel to this, collective purpose and in particular, existentialist perspectives. I am interested in exploring the notion of a uniqueness of our context being a perspective that can be communally binding. I think that humility (an openness to ones own fallacies and falsehoods), common purpose (within the community which is reflected in part to and from a wider collective sphere of identity), values (the context in which that community acts and interacts given the context of it`s communal purpose) and behavioural strategies (the ability to use and reinvent actions and reactions given the predominant environment) are all important in community cohesion. Given cultural, religious/philosophical, localised differences, the rate of change in terms of how communities change over a given distance is more important than what that change is. Where there are differences (obviously depending on what they are) having intermediate steps between them so that the gradient of change is gradual, allows for created community cohesion than if for example the gradient of change is marked within a very short distance and/or interrupted by geographical features. To pick up on Yubal Masalker`s point, there does seem to be a fractal nature for commnities, as in what is needed for holsitic stability and growth of an individual, can be said for a community and by extension a society. The more decentralised a community, which then becomes a more subjective and tempory notation as a result of less defined and consistant cultural /physical borders of that community, the more intergraded, smoothly graduated changes in community values there are, I suppose?
